Born in Derry in 1937, John Hume held to a consistent belief: lasting peace depends on dialogue, patience, and respect for difference. He argued that diversity need not lead to division, and played a central role in shaping the talks that led to the Good Friday Agreement.

Working alongside others across political divides, he helped lay the groundwork for an agreement that changed political life on the island. That steady approach, carried over decades, was ultimately recognised with the Nobel Peace Prize.

We wanted to say a huge and heartfelt thank you to everyone who supported us over the Christmas season.

Thank you to Mr Kelly and the pupils at St Michael’s Catholic College in Bermondsey for their generous donations towards our Christmas hampers. 🎁

A big thanks as well to Jacqui O’Donovan for the lovely Christmas hampers she sent to us, which we were able to add to our parcels — they were very much appreciated. 🎄

And a very special thank you to Margaret and Tom at the Prince of Wales pub in SE1 for cooking wonderful Christmas dinners for our very vulnerable clients, who were absolutely delighted and incredibly grateful. 🍽️💫

We are so thankful for the generosity, care and community spirit shown 💙
