Last month we were privileged to be part of something really special. 🙌 Two Magpies Fund joined leading policymakers, academics, practitioners, funders, healthcare professionals and police in Cambridge for a VAWG summit hosted by the Downing Battcock Institute.

It was heartening to see so many different worlds in the same room, all connected by a genuine passion to improve the UK’s ability to tackle violence against women and girls.

Together we took stock of the existing evidence; learned from promising interventions in other countries; explored case studies of programmes that have already been evaluated; and identified priorities for a potential national What Works programme.

It was energising, thought-provoking and optimistic and an honour to be in the room to learn from colleagues, add our expertise, and represent those we fund. It felt like the start of something that could drive real change.

“It’s not tradition, not culture, but a violation of human rights, violence against women and girls, and a global health emergency.” 👏

Last night we joined a packed room of amazing survivors and campaigners at the FGM Summit. We celebrated just how far we’ve come in the last 40 years, and learnt what needs to be done to help the 4.3million girls still at risk every year. Uplifting, inspiring and thought provoking.

We're excited to announce that our 'Best Start In Life' Fund is now open for applications.

The majority of Two Magpies funding consists of multi-year, unrestricted, flexible grants, which we know are essential for charities to sustain their programmes and create meaningful change. Newly released DWP figures indicate roughly 4 million children in the UK are living in poverty.
In London, that’s 38% of children. (Full link to the research in our bio. 🧐) We are proud to support the work of who provide many families with essentials that would otherwise be out of reach, and we stand with and in their mission to ensure all children get the start in life they deserve.

This week officially saw the launch of ‘s campaign. Two women, Fiona Holm and Naomi Hunte were murdered by Carl Cooper 16 months apart – these murders were preventable. Both these women had reported him to the police for abuse in the months leading up to their deaths and both were fearing for their lives. Police are facing misconduct proceedings around their failings to adequately investigate and protect these women, but questions remain about the systemic injustices that lay behind their decisions.

project_resist does an amazing job supporting the families involved in such cases, but is also leading the campaign to find Fiona’s body, bring the police to account and call on the government to prevent and prosecute domestic abuse.

Yesterday, launched their snapshot report for 2025. VAWG Coded explores 3 key trends for the year just gone: the way VAWG is weaponised by the far-right to fight an anti-migrant agenda, how AI is being used to facilitate VAWG and the prevention work necessary to tackle harmful societal attitudes and gender norms, help boys navigate the manosphere and protect their mental health.

Pages 17 - 20 in particular are an education - a quick way to understand more about nudification apps, deep fakes, and image-based sexual abuse, as well as the harm AI chatbots and companions are causing to gender and relationship norms, encouraging boys and men to abuse women and girls and spread attitudes that constitute misogyny and misogynoir.

It’s a compelling read. Full link to the report in our bio. ⬆️

We are so pleased that one of our grantees has won House and Garden’s Responsible Design Awards 2025. They transform social housing into healing homes for domestic abuse survivors and their children.

They create fully furnished, trauma informed homes using products no longer needed by the design and interiors industry that are otherwise destined for landfill. We love them for their innovation and green credentials.

Congratulations Furnishing Futures!
