It's time for Guiding for Good Winter Warm Up!

🍂 Throughout October, our members will focus on helping those in need over the winter through supporting initiatives such as food banks and winter clothing banks, or taking action to help nature over the winter months. ❄️

Today we're featuring a Queen’s Guide from Bedfordshire in Girlguiding Anglia, Janice A. She credits the Commonweath Knowledge badge she completed as part of her Queen’s Guide, for her love of travel leading to a career in the coach industry for many years.

In 1993 she combined her job and membership in the Trefoil Guild to organise a holiday to Switzerland for 40 members from across Bedfordshire, Cambridgeshire and Kent, celebrating the Guild’s 50th anniversary. The highlight of the trip was visiting Our Chalet where 2 new members enrolled and everyone renewed their promises.

“I'm sure that doing my Queens Guide helped me throughout my long working life and am proud to be a Queens Guide,” she said.

It was a race to the finish for our Queen’s Guide Irene B from Girlguiding Greater London Kent.

Having completed a variety of challenges for her award, including helping in a children’s home and with meals on wheels, Janice completed her award just one month before the then deadline – her 16th birthday in 1967. She was a member of 1st Hither Green Guides, Lewisham.

Janice has been a leader in the county for 57 years and now manages a division depot, as well as being county badge secretary.

However, she hasn’t forgotten her Queen’s Guide award presentation and is still in contact with many of the people in the photograph, including the other Queen’s Guide, Lynda, who now lives in New Zealand.

We’re looking for enthusiastic volunteers to join the team for Cityscapes in Brighton, taking place on 13 and 14 March 2027. This is a fantastic opportunity to get involved, try something different, meet other volunteers and help create an exciting and memorable experience for our members. What a brilliant first Rainbows this term 🌈

Our Rainbows had a busy summer holiday, working towards their interest badges.

It was so exciting to see them all back for our first night and celebrate their achievements by awarding their well-earned badges. 🎉

There were lots of very proud smiles as the badges were handed out!

A huge well done to all our Rainbows, we’re so proud of you! 💜
