Power to Connect is an award-winning Wandsworth-based charity working to bridge the digital divide. Since launching in April 2020, we’ve supported over 5,000 local individuals and families with access to devices, connectivity, and the digital skills needed to thrive in today’s society. We take a holistic approach to digital inclusion through:

💻 Collecting & Refurbishing Devices - giving a second

life to donated laptops, tablets, and smartphones so they’re ready for use.
🚚 Delivering Tech to Those Who Need It - making sure devices reach local schools, families, and community groups across Wandsworth.
📱 Free Digital Drop-ins - running weekly sessions in libraries and community centres where residents can get one-to-one help with everyday digital challenges.
🌐 Digital Skills Courses - offering free workshops and confidence-building support covering essential skills like email, online services, video calls, and staying safe online. Digital exclusion can mean missed lessons, limited job opportunities, isolation, and reduced access to healthcare. Our mission is to tackle these challenges head-on, making sure no one is left behind in an increasingly digital world. We are proud to work alongside local schools, community organisations, and volunteers to reach those who need us most.

Always a pleasure working with our community partners! ✨

Earlier this week, our Digital Tutor Sami joined local residents supported by to introduce them to Power to Connect and remind them that they don’t have to struggle with tech alone!

From getting to grips with a smartphone and getting online, to building digital skills and confidence... we’re here to help

One of our fantastic transport volunteers is on her merry way, delivering more refurbished laptops to people and organisations across the community. 😍

Woohoo, 6,000 devices donated! An incredible milestone that wouldn’t have been possible without the support of our amazing community. Thank you 🙌

And the impact goes beyond digital access. By giving these devices a second life, we’ve avoided an estimated 1,890,000 kg of CO₂ emissions - almost 1,900 tonnes, equivalent to around 790 return flights from London to New York!

But the need for digital access continues to grow. Every week, we meet more people who need a device and support to stay connected.

It’s always so valuable when people take the time to share their knowledge and experiences with others - especially with those who are just starting out or finding their way back into the workplace.🧑‍💻

A huge thank you to Stewart, Head of IT at , for spending the morning with our IT volunteers and Digital Champions.

Stewart shared his career journey, gave a real insight into working in tech, answered loads of thoughtful questions and even donated a tablet to support our work tackling digital exclusion. 🚀

For many of the people we support, hearing directly from someone in the industry is incredibly motivating. It’s a chance to ask questions, gain practical advice and see that a career in tech really is possible.

We’re very grateful to Stewart for giving his time and helping inspire our volunteers. 👏

Our free digital skills sessions aren’t just for people with specific tech problems.

For many people, they’re also a chance to build confidence, feel encouraged and have the reassurance that help is there whenever they need it. 💯

To us, the circular economy is pretty simple: stop letting good tech collect dust, and get it to the kids who actually need it.

We loved this quote from one of our IT volunteers recently… It really is as satisfying as it sounds! 💪

Instead of letting old laptops end up in a landfill (or sitting in that drawer of forgotten electronics we all have), we wipe them, fix them up, and hand them straight to local students. Old tech gets a second life, and a young person gets to do their homework without stress. Win-win.
