🌏 Your weekly job update is here!

This week the board is heavy on leadership and fundraising, two of the biggest bottlenecks in the movement right now. Mercy for Animals is hiring a Chief Development Officer, Food Solutions Action needs an Executive Director, and Compassion in World Farming is looking for a Senior Global Donor Development Manager.

There are also several policy openings: Mercy for Animals is hiring a Government Affairs and Public Policy Specialist in India, and Eurogroup for Animals needs a Political Advisor in Hungary at a pivotal moment for EU animal welfare legislation.

If you're earlier in your career, Welfare Matters has a paid incubator for people who want to build something new for farmed animals in Southeast Asia.

For anyone working in policy, government, or international development and wondering whether that experience could matter to animals: Ging Geronimo's story is worth a read.

She'd built a senior career across government and multilateral finance in the Philippines before she came across AAC's career path guides on growing animal advocacy in countries where the movement is still new.

She took her new direction, co-founded Animal Empathy Philippines and is now doing the foundational work of building the advocacy ecosystem there.

🐾 Your weekly job update is here!

This week's board has a real mix of entry-level roles, campaign work at Animal Aid in the UK, digital comms with Veganuary in India, research at Animal Charity Evaluators, and a director-level fundraising role at The Humane League.

There's also a notable legal trend this week: the Animal Legal Defense Fund is hiring a COO, Lewis & Clark Law School has an animal law teaching fellowship, and the Nonhuman Rights Project has a legal externship open for the Fall.

For anyone who's stepped away from animal advocacy and wondered whether there's still a path back in: there is.

Becca Rogers left PETA after a year and a half of undercover work and spent the next few years in tech ed, still caring deeply about animals, but unable to figure out quite where she fit. AAC's online course gave her the framework she'd been missing, farmed animal welfare came into focus, and the job board led her to the role.

She's now Head of Pathways at New Roots Institute, leading strategy for their fellows and alumni programme and helping people translate their experience into high-impact food systems careers.

Leadership is one of the 5 areas where this movement needs people most. Your background might be exactly what it needs.

Different paths, same movement. 🧡

If you've spent years building a career in marketing, communications or public relations and wondered whether any of it could matter to animals, Helen Farrell’s inspiring story is worth a read.

After developing her skills for 30 years, she decided to make the leap to work for animals. AAC's online course helped her take it seriously, the job board led her to the role, and a career advising call gave her the confidence she needed at just the right moment. She's now Marketing and Comms Manager at Compassion in World Farming.

There is no single "correct" or "right" path into a fulfilling career in animal advocacy. This movement needs scientists, fundraisers, marketers, founders, policy professionals, organisers, researchers, and so much more. We need people who've spent decades in adjacent fields and people who've just realised this is what they want their work to be about, as well as people from every region, every background, with every kind of expertise.

Today we're kicking off something we've been excited about for a long time: the AAC Success Stories Campaign, which will start as a 6-week series celebrating 6 years of AAC helping people who have found their way into impactful careers for animals.
Over the next 6 weeks, we'll introduce you to 6 people from completely different starting points, different countries, different career stages, different paths in. What they have in common is they all decided their skills belonged in animal advocacy.

If you've ever wondered whether your background, your skills, or your story could create impact in this movement, this series is for you. Our diversity is our greatest asset in ending factory farming and animal suffering. 🧡

Different paths, one movement. The first story drops tomorrow, Tuesday June 2nd! We hope you'll feel inspired by these professionals and their stories.
