Some of the biggest wins for animals are the ones that get written into law, and someone has to know how to get them there.

Janis Prinz worked in politics but never saw animal policy as a realistic path. That was until AAC’s career advising team showed him his background was precisely what policy roles were looking for.

With their encouragement, he applied to advise a German Bundestag member on animal welfare policy, and got the role.

There, he helped lay the groundwork for proposed reforms to Germany’s Animal Welfare Act, monitoring draft legislation and preparing parliamentary negotiations. He also helped redirect federal funds towards alternative proteins.

After college, Ellie Grondin applied to a few of the best-known animal organisations. When nothing came through, she took an administrative job at a liberal arts college.

She learned a lot, but didn't feel fulfilled.

A year in, she found AAC. AAC's job board introduced her to a whole community of organisations she'd never heard of, including New Roots Institute.

She's now 'Senior Program Coordinator, Operations', and has been with New Roots for two years.
