The Fr. Stephen Abraham Memorial Rugby Trophy
This year, we proudly introduce the Fr. Stephen Rugby Trophy, dedicated to the memory of Rev. Fr. Dom Stephen Abraham, OSB, the visionary Principal of St. Anthony's College during its "golden era" (1979 to 1994). Fr. Stephen transformed education and sports at St. Anthony's through bold leadership, unwavering discipline, and a genuine belief in developing the whole person. He understood that sports were far more than competition. They were vital in building character, resilience, and integrity. Under his guidance, the school implemented a compulsory physical programme that elevated standards across cricket, rugby, basketball, badminton, and table tennis. Fr. Stephen's legacy extends beyond athletics. He rebuilt the school's infrastructure, pioneered technology in education, fostered scout leadership, and exemplified service by using his own donations to build homes for school staff, never accumulating personal wealth. As we compete on August 30th, this trophy honours his memory and the values of teamwork, courage, discipline, and selfless service that defined his remarkable life of 62 years in priestly ministry.
