After centuries of constitutional history, tradition, and continuity under the Crown, the words “His Majesty’s Government” are being replaced with the bland, bureaucratic label “UK Government.”
The monarchy is not a decorative extra in Britain; it is the constitutional foundation of our system, the enduring link between past, present, and future, and a reminder that government serves the nation rather than itself.
Removing “His Majesty” from official branding weakens that visible connection to duty, service, and continuity that has defined British governance for generations.
You do not modernise a country by stripping away the symbols that hold it together.
You do not strengthen democracy by quietly sidelining the institution that stands above party politics and safeguards constitutional balance.
Many of us are proud to live in a kingdom, not merely an administrative territory called the “UK.” And we will not pretend that removing “His Majesty” is meaningless, because symbols matter.
If you share these concerns, do not remain silent.
Write to your local Member of Parliament and ask them to defend the continued use of “His Majesty’s Government” in our national identity and official branding.
