🤍

🇩🇿🇬🇧 An Algerian Hero We Are Proud Of

We proudly honour Samir Zitouni, the Algerian hero whose bravery helped save lives during the Huntingdon train attack.

Yesterday, His Majesty the King met Samir, recognising his courage and selflessness — a powerful moment reflecting the values of humanity, responsibility, and unity.

True heroism knows no borders. We are proud of him and of all those who stand up for others when it matters most.

🕊 Statement from the Arab Community Centre in Britain

We are deeply shocked and saddened by the tragic incident at a synagogue in Manchester.
The loss of innocent lives and the injuries suffered are a painful reminder of the urgent need to confront hatred and violence in all its forms.

The Arab Community Centre in Britain extends its heartfelt condolences to the victims, their families, and the people of Manchester.
We stand in solidarity with our Jewish brothers and sisters, and with all communities who may feel fear or vulnerability as a result of this tragedy.

In this moment of grief, we call on civic leaders, faith institutions, and communities across Britain to stand together in unity and compassion.
Our shared humanity must always overcome division and violence.

Arab Community Centre in Britain Statement on Racist Remarks Targeting Gazan Children Receiving NHS Care

The Arab Community Centre in Britain (ACC Britain) strongly condemns the recent racist and anti-Palestinian remarks made by a Member of Parliament regarding the arrival of severely injured children from Gaza to receive life-saving treatment in the UK.

These children are victims of an ongoing genocide by the Israeli occupation that has continued for almost two years. According to the latest report by the Palestinian government, issued on 5 April 2025 – Palestinian Children’s Day – since October 2023, 17,954 children have been killed in Gaza, including 274 newborns who were born and died under bombardment, while 39,384 children have lost one or both parents.

The UK’s decision to allow parents to accompany their injured children is entirely normal and necessary — no baby or young child can travel alone. Tragically, many critically injured children remain trapped in Gaza because Israel continues to block intensive care ambulances from entering or leaving the Strip, preventing their evacuation for urgent treatment.

Framing these vulnerable children and their families as a “burden” is both harmful and dangerous. Such rhetoric fuels hatred and division and risks inciting violence against these traumatised families, who are already suffering beyond measure.

We call on the Prime Minister, the Home Secretary, the Health Secretary, the police and the NHS to take urgent action to stop the spread of hate and to ensure the safety and dignity of these children and their families. The UK must uphold its values of compassion, justice and humanity by standing firmly against racism and hate speech.

🚨 Attack on Aberdeen Mosque During Prayer 🚨

A mosque in Aberdeen was attacked while worshippers were praying—another alarming incident in the UK’s growing trend of Islamophobic violence.

This attack comes during the anniversary week of the Christchurch massacre (March 15, 2019), where 51 worshippers were murdered in New Zealand simply for praying in their mosques.

📍 Mosques across the UK have been targeted, yet the lack of action and support remains a serious issue.

London Celebrates Ramadan: Ramadan Lantern Lit at Ealing Council as Part of the “Brightening Our Boroughs, Together in Ramadan” Initiative

Today, a Ramadan lantern was lit at Ealing Council in West London, accompanied by banners displayed inside and outside the council building to welcome the holy month of Ramadan. This event is part of the “Brightening Our Boroughs, Together in Ramadan” initiative, which, in its first year, focuses on West London boroughs to raise awareness about Ramadan and engage local council leaders and MPs in showing solidarity with the Muslim community. The initiative also aims to promote understanding of Ramadan and Muslims in the area, especially as Muslims make up nearly a quarter of the population in some parts of London.

The initiative, launched by the Arab Community Center in Britain in collaboration with Alarab in the UK and coordinated with West London councils, seeks to promote diversity and inclusion while demonstrating support for the Muslim community during this sacred month.

Speaking about the initiative, Rashid, a long-time resident of Ealing, said:
“I have lived in Ealing for 28 years, and I have never seen banners welcoming Ramadan at the council before. This is a fantastic initiative that should be expanded to all councils, as many Muslims hesitate to put up Ramadan decorations due to fears of Islamophobia.”

This initiative aims to foster coexistence, understanding, and appreciation of different cultures within British society, highlighting the positive contributions of Muslims to their local communities.
