🚨 Breaking news . 🚨
First of and most importantly they are alive and kicking . I would use the term well but the team have had a rough 24hrs . Amazingly the have already covered over 180ks but the river has made it clear it’s in charge.
The temperatures and humidity are stifling and the team are trying everything they can to keep cool including using wet towels on their shoulders .
the river lulled the team into a false sense of security during the day with things going well but as night fell they encountered a maze of sandbanks with no markings or way of sensibly plotting a route through them. They eventually got stuck on a bank and three of the team had to jump into the river to try dislodge the boat from where she had been beached. Once they overcome this hurdle the night vision camera Went off line as they ran into an area of Logs floating in the river some above the water Line A couple of these struck Darren and simon causing injuries to both! Simons taken the brunt of this impact with a strike to the face but they are both ok! . The next few hours delivered more beachings, equipment failures damage to the boat and obstacles to overcome
Despite all this they are in good spirits and through day one ! and pushing on 👏👏👏
