Black History Month — we’re saluting the trailblazers. 🖤

First up: Dr Roni Savage OBE.

She’s the UK’s first Black woman to own an engineering company serving construction — founder of Jomas Associates, and in 2022 she was named the most influential woman in UK construction.

Every day on this site, our young people are learning the trades that build our cities. Dr Savage is proof of how far that path can go — a Black woman leading at the very top of the industry they’re just stepping into.

That’s who we’re building the next generation to become.

We salute you, Dr Savage. 👏

It’s 1st October — and we’ve got news. 👀

Remember the girl behind the camera this summer? That’s me — Kayziah. Now I’m stepping in front of my own work.

And I’m not doing it alone. Say hi to Kaliyl — in his early 20s, studying American Studies at University, and joining the team behind the scenes.

That’s right: I O now has a social media team, run by young people. 🙌🏾

I’m 17, studying interior architecture, and every week I’ll break down the design of this build — the materials, the choices, the why behind how a space ends up feeling the way it does.

We’re back with another interview with , the founder of Innovative Opportunities and IO Together Space! This time, we asked her about the challenges that come with her role and what she finds hardest about being project manager for a construction company.

That’s a wrap on summer. ☀️

The 1st of September marks the end of our young people and students working with us full-time — and honestly, they’ll be truly missed. What they brought to this site all summer can’t be overstated.

Now the big jobs step up a gear as we bring in specialist contractors to push toward completion: HVAC installation, the steel crew building in the mezzanine, and the acoustic team hanging the baffles.

What a summer it’s been. 🥰

To every young person who showed up, learned, and left their mark on the Youth Anchor — thank you.

Another week, another step closer! 

The Youth Anchor is making more progress! This week, the team has been putting up the ceiling and working on the multipurpose space.

Last week, we gave United Borders and the CEO of the Youth Endowment Fund a progress tour of the Youth Anchor! 🦺👷🏾‍♀️

It was a great opportunity to show them how the project is coming together, share the progress we’ve made so far, and give them a look behind the scenes of the work happening on site. 🔨

There’s still plenty to do, but it’s amazing to see the Youth Anchor taking shape week by week! 🚧

A huge thank you to United Borders and the Youth Endowment Fund for their continued support and for helping us bring this project to life! 👏🏽
