OneBodyOneFaith is closing its doors.

It was founded in 1976 as the Gay Christian Movement, then the Le***an and Gay Christian Movement.

LGB Christians, founded 3 years ago reached out then to collaborate and find common ground stating our aim to focus specifically on the rights, needs and contributions of people attracted to the same s*x: Le***ans, G**s and Bis*xuals.

Regrettably, our approach was rebuffed.

Christian Concern has published a review of Queered Out, a resource from Desert Stream.

It sets out three approaches to Christians who experience same-s*x attraction: affirm an LGB identity; treat the desire as a lifelong “thorn in the flesh” and call only for celibacy; or put identity in Christ first and expect that feelings can change.

Christian Concern prefers the third. That is why it uses “same-s*x attraction” rather than le***an, gay or bis*xual.

We disagree.

LGB Christians hold that same-s*x desire and faithful same-s*x relationships can be received as part of God’s good creation.

We also oppose attempts to change s*xual orientation.

Young le***an, gay and bis*xual people need churches that can say that without apology.

We do agree with one observation. Sexual orientation and gender-identity ideology do not sit easily together. 'Queered Out' plays on a real fatigue many of us feel with an LGBTQIA+ package that often treats s*x as optional.

Same-s*x attracted people are now caught between an older Christian teaching that still pathologises us, and a newer ideology that would dissolve the s*xed reality on which our lives depend.

That is not a reason to accept either. It is a reason to be clear about both.

Let's hope that churches and schools understand the effects of testosterone on the female body before affirming young women who wish to present as male.

Some of these girls may simply be same-s*x attracted.

They deserve time, honesty and care.

Today we mark the first ever - 6 September.

We celebrate the lives of same-s*x attracted men - including those who serve and belong in churches in the UK and around the world as clergy, musicians, parishioners, and friends.

We lament that many churches still refuse to recognise same-s*x marriage.

And we note, with profound concern, how quickly and without proper discernment some churches have adopted gender-identity ideology, and the harm this can do to gender-nonconforming gay boys and young men who may be led to believe they are the wrong s*x.
