Statement from Brendan Cox, who was the husband of former MP Jo Cox.

10 years ago today, Jo Cox MP died after being shot and stabbed multiple times by a right wing fantasist in the street in the village of Birstall, where she had been due to hold a constituency surgery.

Jo was a passionate campaigner, activist and humanitarian; a proud Yorkshire lass and internationalist; and a devoted mum, daughter, sister, wife, friend and MP.

She was driven by her belief that a fairer, kinder and more tolerant world was possible and dedicated her career to helping those less fortunate than herself, whether in Batley and Spen or around the world. Jo believed passionately that even the greatest challenges could be overcome.

On 16 June 2016, on her way to a constituency surgery to meet with local residents of Batley and Spen, Jo was brutally murdered because of her beliefs.

Far right driven, Thomas Mair, was found guilty of her murder and sentenced to life imprisonment with a whole life order 🤨

Definitely against a government digital ID scheme as a whole but this is about protecting our kids. Numerous studies show the damage online activities have on the brain.

No one batters an eyelid to show their passport to go on holiday - why should we not show our passports or drivers ID to help protect our youth.

Young Bob and young people like him are being indoctrinated every single day – we have to put a stop to this.

Children being groomed to help impose extreme views on British streets by right wing extremists is unacceptable 🤨

This new Reform policy would lead to massive price hikes in the private rental market. Brits would be outbid by people desperate to stay in the UK or pay more extortionate amounts to be housed.

Currently, an immigrants’ eligibility for social housing is strictly determined by their legal status, with most temporary visa holders, asylum seekers, and those in the UK without authorization barred from accessing it. Local connection requirements also heavily prioritize state-funded homes for UK citizens and long-term local residents.

Either Farage is stupid, trying to line the pockets of his friends or just doesn't care 🙃
