🌟 Trainee Abstract Poster Highlight from the GRAPPA Trainee Symposium at the 2026 Annual Meeting in Lisbon 🌟

Carla Martins from ULS Santa Maria, Portugal, presented the following poster:

"Anti-Osteoporotic Treatment Efficacy in Patients with Psoriatic Arthritis – description of a tertiary center."

Lay Summary:

Psoriatic arthritis (PsA) is a long-term inflammatory disease that affects the joints and can also impact overall bone health. Ongoing inflammation may weaken bones over time, increasing the risk of osteoporosis (OP) and fractures. While treatments are available to prevent bone loss, there is limited information regarding the effectiveness of these therapies in PsA patients. Understanding the effectiveness of anti-osteoporotic treatments in this population is important to improve fracture prevention and long-term outcomes.

This month serves as an important reminder to raise awareness of psoriasis, promote earlier diagnosis, advance research, and support people living with psoriatic disease.

At GRAPPA, these efforts continue year-round through a global network of clinicians, researchers, patient research partners, and industry collaborators dedicated to improving patient outcomes.

From developing treatment recommendations and advancing collaborative research to providing educational resources, mentorship opportunities, and scientific programming, GRAPPA remains committed to expanding knowledge and improving care for individuals affected by psoriatic disease.

Together, we can continue to advance research, education, and awareness while working toward better outcomes for patients around the world.

We are excited to share that the 2027 GRAPPA Annual Meeting will take place in Dallas, Texas on July 15-17!

We invite GRAPPA members to apply to join the Agenda Development Committee for next year's meeting.

This committee will review program ideas, recommend speakers, and help shape the overall agenda for our growing and dynamic Annual Meeting. Participation requires a commitment to attending planning meetings, responding promptly to inquiries, and actively contributing thoughtful ideas and suggestions.

Committee members will be selected by the GRAPPA Board, with consideration given to geographic diversity, specialty, past involvement with GRAPPA, and the ability to attend both the development meetings and the Annual Meeting in Dallas.

If you are looking for a meaningful way to become more involved with GRAPPA, this is a wonderful opportunity.

GRAPPA members, please look for the recent communications from our team and submit your interest by August 28.
