Built largely in the 15th century and closely associated with the powerful Hunyadi family, the castle looks like something straight out of a Gothic legend.

The Alcázar of Segovia – a real-life fairytale castle in Spain 🇪🇸
Rising dramatically above the historic city of Segovia, the Alcázar looks as if it belongs in a storybook. With its elegant towers, pointed slate roofs and spectacular position on a rocky cliff, it is one of the most distinctive castles in Spain.
Its history stretches back centuries, and over time the Alcázar served as a royal palace, fortress, state prison and military academy. Several Castilian monarchs lived here, including Queen Isabella I, one of the most important figures in Spanish history.
