Community Psychologist / Psychotherapist - Girls' Project

Salary: £47,272 a year pro rata
Contract: Fixed term
Duration: 2 years
Working pattern: Part-time, Flexible working

Join Brandon Centre as a Community Psychologist/ Psychotherapist within our girls' project, She Is Supported (SIS), and help shape an innovative, community-based mental health offer for girls and young women in Islington.

This is an exciting opportunity to deliver psychologically informed support in trusted youth settings, working alongside partner organisations to improve emotional wellbeing, increase access to mental health support, and strengthen resilience for girls facing multiple disadvantage. You will provide group-based and 1:1 psychological support, offer consultation to youth workers, and help create safe, accessible spaces where girls can explore issues affecting their lives and wellbeing.

We are looking for a compassionate, skilled and thoughtful psychologist/psychotherapist who is committed to trauma-informed, culturally responsive and relationship-based practice. You will join a highly respected organisation with a long history of improving young peoples mental health, and be part of a collaborative partnership that values participation, inclusion and innovation.

Provisional Interview Date and Location: 23/10/2026 - In person at the Brandon Centre.

This is an opportunity to use your clinical skills in a flexible, relational and community-focused way, helping to make mental health support more accessible for girls who may not engage with more traditional services.

Due to the nature of this role and the needs of the service users, applications are invited from women only. This is a lawful occupational requirement under Schedule 9, Part 1 of the Equality Act 2010.

Another nomination for our SIS programme!

We’re incredibly proud to share that our She Is Supported (SIS) programme has been shortlisted for Programme of the Year at the London Youth Awards!

Delivered in partnership with Highbury Roundhouse, Mary’s Youth Club and Prospex, SIS brings together the best of our combined knowledge, skills and expertise to create meaningful support for girls and young women.

It’s amazing to see the hard work of everyone involved recognised through this nomination, but most importantly, we’re proud to celebrate the positive impact SIS is having on the girls who take part.

A huge congratulations to all the other shortlisted nominees; we’re looking forward to celebrating together!

Welcoming the community at Open House

On 12th of September, we once again opened our doors to the community as part of London’s Open House festival.

We look forward to this event every year as it’s a wonderful opportunity to welcome locals and visitors into our historic house and share our story, history and the important work we do. From explaining how our founder, Dr Faith Spicer, radically set up Brandon Centre back in 1969 to the origins of our Kentish Town building.

Throughout the day, we invited people to take a tour of our house and garden before enjoying a cup of tea in our kitchen, where our staff and trustees were on hand to chat, answer questions and share a bit of information about the services that we offer young people.

We welcomed and met so many lovely visitors, whether it was our neighbours from the local area, professionals who wanted to learn more about us, or those who were simply curious as they walked past our doors.

For us, these conversations are an important part of Open House. It gives others the chance to see behind the scenes and meet the team, but also for us to hear people’s own memories and connections with Brandon Centre.

One particularly lovely moment came when a woman walking past recognised the building and mentioned how she used to come to us as a teenager! Hearing from someone who has used our services and was delighted to see that we’re still here, continuing that work, was incredibly meaningful.

We’re very proud to be a part of the local community and grateful to everyone who took the time to visit us this year. Thank you to those who came through our doors, shared their memories, asked questions and enjoyed a cup of tea with us. We hope to see you next year!

Tomorrow is the day! We’ll be opening the doors of Brandon Centre and would love you to come along, meet us and discover more about the work of our very special charity.

This annual event, offers a wonderful opportunity to come inside and take a look around our facilities, as well as spending some time in our beautiful garden; a peaceful space where you can enjoy the natural surroundings, relax and unwind with a hot drink.

Today, 10th September 2026, is World Su***de Prevention Day and this year’s theme, ‘Changing the Narrative on Su***de’, carries an important call to action: “Start the Conversation.”

As a long-established charity supporting young people, Brandon Centre understands just how important it is to create safe spaces where young people feel able to talk openly about their mental health, without fear of judgement or stigma. Sometimes, starting a conversation can be the hardest step. But listening, reaching out and simply letting someone know they are not alone can make a meaningful difference.

We remain committed to supporting young people through difficult and challenging times, helping them access the care, guidance and support they need.

This World Su***de Prevention Day, we encourage everyone to help change the narrative. Check in with someone. Make time to listen. Start the conversation. Because every conversation matters.

When celebrating your 'A Level' results, here's some important safety advice.

The team at Brandon Centre wish everyone good luck for their 'A Level' results and also reminding all to be very careful celebrating with such high temperatures…

⚠️ Open water is unpredictable – stay safe this summer

Water safety matters, even for confident swimmers. If you get into difficulty in the water, remember Float to Live, it could save your life:

• Float on your back in a star shape
• Keep your ears under the water
• Move your hands and feet gently
• Try to stay calm and shout for help if you’re able to.

If someone else is in trouble: don’t go into the water yourself. Call 999 immediately, encourage them to float on their back, and throw them something that floats.

Do you know a young person aged 18 to 25 who likes architecture and design? Build The Way is a nine-month entry-level architecture traineeship providing an alternative route into a career designing and making buildings, spaces, cities and communities.

It offers placements for young Londoners at architecture practices across the city. Trainees are paid the London Living Wage for a 32-hour week and spend an additional day each week developing professional skills while completing a qualification at the London School of Architecture.
