He can still see his reflectionโ€”but not as clearly as he once did.

Cataract gradually clouds vision, affecting millions of people worldwide. Yet a simple surgery can often restore sight and transform lives.

Help us bring sight-restoring care to those who need it most. ๐Ÿ’›

A glimpse into Al Basar's history.

This photograph captures one of our eye camps in Cambodia in August 2001. Long before social media and smartphones, our teams were already travelling across the world to provide free eye care and fight avoidable blindness.

More than three decades later, that mission continuesโ€”one patient, one surgery, and one restored life at a time.

Nearly half of all people globally facing cataract-related blindness still lack access to the surgery that could restore their sight, according to the World Health Organization (WHO).

In underserved communities, many people continue to live in darkness simply because treatment is out of reach. Through Vision Bright Campaigns, Al Basar International Foundation brings free eye care and sight-restoring cataract surgery to those who need it most.

Every donation helps fund consultations, surgeries, medications, and follow-up care for vulnerable patients who would otherwise go without treatment.

Help us bring light, hope, and vision to more communities around the world.

The good news?
Cataract blindness is treatable through a safe and effective surgical procedure that restores sight and transforms lives.

Cataract remains the leading cause of blindness worldwide, but for over three decades, Al Basar has been helping change that.

Since 1989, our Vision Bright campaigns have brought sight-saving care to some of the world's most underserved communities. Along the way, we have used 684,770 artificial intraocular lenses (IOLs), helping hundreds of thousands of people regain their vision and independence. ๐Ÿ’›

This Cataract Awareness Month, we remain committed to the same mission: restoring sight, one patient at a time.

A tent filled with hope. ๐Ÿ’›

In Djibouti ๐Ÿ‡ฉ๐Ÿ‡ฏ, patients gather early, waiting patiently for the chance to receive life-changing eye care. For many, this journey could mean the difference between blindness and sight.

Help us reach more communities with sight-saving treatment.
