In memory of fallen Hospitaller Eva Reuter

Terrible news. It is incredibly difficult to report the loss of such an extraordinary and bright people.

While rescuing the wounded during the shelling on the night of August 1, paramedic Eva Reuter was killed in a second Russian strike.

Our “Planochka,” our “Alice.”

She was only 25. Eva was an artist and art historian, worked in game development, and earned her bachelor’s degree at the National Academy of Fine Arts and Architecture (NAFAA).
In November 2022, she joined the Hospitallers. Although she could have stayed away from the front lines, she chose to save lives.

Eva was tireless: she evacuated the wounded, took care of supplies for the Medical Forces, and took part in the “Veterans are Different. Victory is One” campaign, reminding people about respect and equality. Eva was an exceptionally proactive, determined, and courageous woman!

Recently, she had been serving alongside rescuers in Kyiv, running into areas under fire to help others, and met her death as a hero.
We still cannot believe it. This is indescribable pain.

Rest in peace, our dear “Alice.”

Delivery of over 4,000 kg (worth over £160'000) of medical supplies to Hospitallers!

We have wonderful news!

Recently, the Hospitallers received a huge shipment of medical supplies weighing over 4,000 kg. It included medical and rehabilitation equipment worth more than £160,000!

We are incredibly grateful to Ukraine Charity, Village Help for Ukraine (https://www.facebook.com/groups/1069103953791478/) with Hannah Pierce (https://www.facebook.com/groups/1069103953791478/user/1646615013), and hundreds of our donors who made this miracle happen!

The delivery included essential medical and rehabilitation supplies:

Hospitaller Taras, call sign "Liutyi," Receives the Order of Saint Panteleimon

Taras "Liutyi" is a surgeon and volunteer medic with the Hospitallers.

He has been named a regional laureate of the Order of Saint Panteleimon in the "Hero of the Medical Front" nomination. Taras has repeatedly worked under the most challenging conditions, saving the lives of the wounded.

During one evacuation mission, he carried out prolonged resuscitation efforts and successfully restored the heartbeat of a critically wounded casualty who, during initial triage, had been provisionally declared dead due to the absence of signs of life.

During the massive attack on Lviv, the Hospitallier provided life-saving care to a woman with a severe chest wound, evacuated her in his own vehicle, and then returned to rescue other injured people.

"The Order of Saint Panteleimon is neither an order from above nor a mere formality. It means that people have seen what you do and chose to vote for you. For me, that is a great honor," says Taras.

For the Hospitallers, this recognition is yet another testament to the power of daily dedication, resilience, and the decisions that save lives. For the sake of every life!

Congratulations to Taras! We are incredibly proud of our courageous Hospitaller.

12 Years of the "Hospitallers"

Recently, the "Hospitallers" marked their 12th anniversary. Voluntarily where the need is greatest.

It all began with just a handful of people who simply knew that when lives need saving, you act.

Since then, more than 1,800 volunteers have become part of the Hospitallers' story.
Over the years, the "Hospitallers" has evacuated more than 45,000 wounded. Behind every one of those numbers is a human life, a struggle, hope, and people who never back down.

We are grateful to everyone who has been and continues to be part of the "Hospitallers" —volunteer medics, drivers, instructors, volunteers, donors, partners, and everyone who helps our paramedics carry out their lifesaving mission.

We bow our heads in memory of the fallen Hospitallers who gave their lives while saving others. We remember every name.

Twelve years are not only about the journey behind us.
They are about the responsibility to keep going. To teach. To save. To stand by those in need. For as long as we are needed.

The story of “Vohniana” - a medicine instructor and a volunteer medic

She grew up in the reality of war.

Anna was 10 years old in 2014 — that was when her journey of helping others and contributing to a common cause began. It was then that she realized that what was happening in the country was also about her and her future.

At the age of 13, she developed an interest in pre-hospital emergency care. Later, her path in teaching began through working with young people, where she learned not only how to share knowledge but also how to support others and help them unlock their potential.

At 18, she joined the Hospitallers.

As Anna herself recalls: “I saw a vehicle in Pavlohrad with a ‘Hospitallers’ sticker on it. At that time, I was already volunteering, and that was when I realized that I could be useful there.”

Training, her first rotations, work in medical evacuation crews — and a gradual transition into instructing as a natural continuation of her experience.

“The most difficult part of rotations turned out to be the physical strain — working with stretchers, carrying, loading, and unloading wounded patients. That is why, during our courses, we specifically prepare people for these conditions and continue to place great emphasis on this aspect of training.”

Today, “Vohniana” is an instructor who combines practical field experience with teaching others. For her, it is about responsibility, continuous growth, and a simple truth: in medicine, nothing works without humanity, discipline, and teamwork.

As she explains: “The main idea I want people to take away from the training is that it is not enough to simply know the theory well and perform medical procedures correctly. If there is a lack of humanity and respect for colleagues, it will become a problem for the crew’s work. That is why, for me, the highest-priority skill is effective communication.”

Her approach is simple — not to stand aside, but to take action.

“What constantly drives me forward is the thought that what I do is only a drop in the ocean, and that I must continue teaching others for as long as I have the opportunity to do so.”

The Hospitails team continues to support animals in areas where veterinary care is often simply unavailable.

In April 2026, the team carried out missions to two locations in the Dnipro region to provide urgent assistance to animals in need.

During these visits, 15 animals were spayed or neutered, vaccinated against rabies and other infectious diseases, and treated for parasites. Most of them required help almost immediately after evacuation.

In addition, the team began working in areas where access to veterinary services is extremely limited. There, another 14 animals were spayed or neutered, and one animal received complex orthopedic treatment after suffering fractures of both femurs.
They delivered 300 kg of pet food for stray animals currently under care.

Hospitals are about providing help where it is needed most. And this work continues every single day.

Hospitallers at the General Audience of the Holy Father in the Vatican

Recently, a General Audience of the Holy Father took place at the Vatican.

Among the invited guests at the large-scale event was the head of the “Hospitallers” Yana Zinkevych.

Before the conclusion of the audience, the Pope personally greeted Yana Zinkevych. In turn, Yana thanked the Pontiff and the clergy for their prayers for peace in Ukraine and for an end to the war. She also spoke about the work of the "Hospitallers" and invited the Pope to visit Ukraine.

The audience and meetings at the Vatican carry special symbolism for the Ukrainian delegations currently in Italy. For many, this is not only a religious event, but also an important international gesture of support for Ukraine.

Please continue to support the paramedics. People from all over the world must unite in the fight against the enemy, and even a small donation makes a meaningful contribution to saving hundreds of lives.
