The iconic Round Tower at Windsor Castle is home to hundreds of thousands of documents relating to the history of the Royal Family.

Each year, we share items from the Royal Archives as part of the UK-wide initiative Week.

This year’s selection includes the oldest document in the Archives, dating from 1297.

Prince William has been in North Wales today, for a tour highlighting the experiences of youth living in coastal communities. πŸ΄σ §σ ’σ ·σ ¬σ ³σ ΏπŸ‘‘

The Prince of Wales has been on a Colwyn Bay beach walk with members of the Marine Conservation Society's Youth Ocean Network, and has met with those involved in their Hiraeth Yn Y Mor project. πŸ–οΈ

The project saw young people engage with the coastal communities to grow ocean literacy, improve the sustainable management of the local marine heritage, and promote the health and wellbeing benefits of connecting with the ocean. 🌊

The visit also includes a stop at the Youth Shedz organisation, which supports young people experiencing challenges such as school exclusion, bullying, homelessness and other social issues.

He's also due to attend a comedy workshop run by Welsh comedian Kiri Pritchard-McLean, established to open up more arts opportunities for those from low-income households or living in rural areas. 🎀

As the UN's 16 Days of Activism against Gender-Based Violence gets underway – an international campaign running from 25th November to 10th December calling for the prevention and elimination of violence against women and girls – we're highlighting The Queen's recent patronage of the Samoa Victim Support Group.

SVSG provides vital support to victims of crime and abuse. Through professional services and advocacy, the organisation empowers survivors to reclaim their lives and works to build safer communities for women, children and vulnerable populations.

Her Majesty's patronage reflects her longstanding commitment to ending violence against women and girls, supporting organisations that provide refuge, advocacy and hope to those who need it most.

Together, we can build a world where all can live free from fear and violence.

Her Majesty has said of her new patronage:

β€œAlmost exactly a year ago, I visited SVSG and was immediately struck by your outstanding work with victims of abuse throughout Samoa. You have, I know, touched, changed and saved lives across the island and I am proud to stand with you as we seek to end these heinous crimes forever.”
