Emergency Burial Appeal for Adali Cuneyt, Riad Al-Takriti and Margaret Reid - Please help give our brothers and sister, dignified Islamic burials.

Cuneyt Adali
Brother Cuneyt Adali was a hardworking man of Turkish-Cypriot background who spent much of his life working in factories as a presser.
At around the age of 50, his life changed dramatically. He developed diabetes which led to severe complications, and eventually he had to undergo a leg amputation. Last year, he suffered a major heart attack on the streets and required emergency heart surgery. Doctors said he was unlikely to survive. Yet, against all expectations, Cuneyt pulled through and returned home nine weeks later.
Sadly, Cuneyt final illness was devastating. He developed septic shock and suffered three heart attacks one after another. His body, after years of fighting, could not fight any longer. He was the last surviving member of his family, with no immediate family available to significantly contribute towards the funeral costs.

Riad Al-Takriti
Riad was 79 years old, originally of Iraqi descent. He came to the country many years ago where he studied and completed his PhD in nuclear physics. He was unable to return to his home country due to the war that broke out. He worked in IT during his younger days, before retiring due to old age. His old age came with many health issues, including heart disease and cancer. He had no family in this country, just a friend who he used to confide in.
Eventually his frailty caused him to have a fall, resulting in a head injury and brain bleeding. He was hospitalised and entered into a coma, from which he never returned. With no family here, he is left without anyone to give him a proper Islamic burial. Muslim Burial Fund has stepped in to ensure he is laid to rest with dignity.

Margaret Reid
Sister Margaret was diagnosed with vascular dementia, and over time her health gradually began to decline. In November 2024, she took her Shahada and embraced Islam. Just a few months later, her dementia progressed significantly and she sadly lost her capacity.
Her family watched her health deteriorate while caring for her through increasingly difficult circumstances. After contracting Covid, complications caused her condition to worsen further. She eventually moved into a nursing home, where she sadly passed away just five weeks later.
Her son, who is also a revert to Islam, reached out to the Muslim Burial Fund for support. The family have been struggling with debt and financial difficulties, particularly after his wife was diagnosed with cancer a few years ago and underwent a long course of treatment. MBF reassured him that, with the support of our community, we will help give his beloved mother the dignified Muslim burial she deserves.

All our appeals do not reflect the actual costs in laying a deceased person to rest. These costs are normally in the region of £4,000 to £5,000. Each of our burial appeals are currently subsidised at £1,750 per burial from the funds received from TV appeals, website and digital platforms. Any surplus funds is used to help others reaching End of Life or assist with burial support.
