Even after dealing with international child kidnapping cases for 25 yrs across every continent, I still get goose bumps when we reunite children.
Cases are extremely complex (like you wouldn’t believe), can take a long time to find a child (one thing we never give clients… a time frame) & requires meticulous planning for a safe rescue & extraction. Parents getting the wrong advice, scammed, inexperienced lawyers, getting media involved before child is returned, next to no help from their governments, embassies or law enforcement …. all add up to a massive amount of stress & can turn a parent as I’ve seen, suicidal or turn to alcohol & drugs.
Add to this dealing with up to 10 cases, across different countries at the same time & every client wanting their child found & returned yesterday, puts a lot of pressure & responsibility on our team & families who we are away from for long periods of time helping our clients.
One of our teams biggest hurdles is our clients. Many different personalities… some listen to everything we say, others (men) watch too many Rambo movies or think they know everything after speaking to a Facebook group made of other parents. Clients have no issues hiding facts or secrets in order for our team to help, regardless of consequences we could face, so our vetting process is extremely important.
Clients can also turn on you if they don’t get their way or we don’t do things their way. A whirlpool for disaster & after so many years experience, the exact client we now avoid. We now choose our clients, clients don’t choose us.
Unfortunately, even as late as last week, parents are still being scammed by a known small gang pretending to help kids, only to come to us after expecting us to fix the mess.
As a father of 4, I feel the pain parents go through when their kids disappear often for years, & with a system designed not to help, they are left on their own to help their children.
Welcome to my world & the pandemic of International kidnappings.
