This Refugee Week, we are honoured to share the powerful voices of Afghan women and young girls through the HARP (Hopscotch Afghan Refugee Project) Exhibition.

The exhibition explored the theme "Courage" through personal stories and reflections from women who have rebuilt their lives after being forced to flee Afghanistan.

Their words remind us that courage isn't just about surviving: it's about starting again.

"I left my home, my relatives and my whole life behind to keep my children safe...."

"Moving to another country and starting life again is not easy...."

"Migration is not only about moving from one place to another. It means leaving behind people that you love... great courage is needed to do this."

These stories are a testament to the strength, resilience and hope of Afghan refugee women and young girls.

Creating inclusive environments where people feel respected, listened to, and valued can have a significant impact on wellbeing and quality of life.

At Hopscotch Women's Centre, we believe everyone deserves compassionate care that respects their identity and personal journey.

Did you know?

More than two thirds of LGBT people say they avoid holding hands with a same-sex partner for fear of a negative reaction from others.

This reflects the ongoing impact of stigma and why Pride continues to matter.

At Hopscotch Women's Centre, we are proud to support LGBTQIA+ individuals through inclusive, respectful care that celebrates identity, dignity, and individuality.

Eid Mubarak to all who celebrate.

As Ramadan comes to a close, the trustees and the team at Hopscotch Women Centre wish everyone a peaceful and joyful Eid, filled with reflection, connection, and hope.

We also want to take a moment to acknowledge that this period is not the same for everyone. For many people around the world, especially women, Ramadan and Eid can come with added challenges, whether due to conflict, displacement, inequality, or personal hardship.

Today, we hold space for both celebration and solidarity. May we continue to support, uplift, and stand alongside those who need it most.

Many of the women supported by Hopscotch Women’s Centre are often not reached by mainstream systems.

Violence, insecure housing, poverty, employment barriers, mental health challenges and caring responsibilities are deeply interconnected. When these barriers accumulate and intersect, they can make women invisible.

Hopscotch works with women, not for them, restoring agency, confidence and connection.

Supporting women to move from invisibility to visibility. đź’ś
