This video of our elected representative and Uber driver Helio interrupting the Mayor’s Question Time has been getting a lot of attention recently.

Helio stood up and spoke directly to Sadiq Khan, calling out the unacceptable treatment of drivers and demanding action.

And it worked.

Not long after, Sadiq Khan publicly called the ongoing licensing crisis unacceptable and went on to announce a compensation scheme for drivers.

One driver stood up. One driver took action. And it helped force those in power to respond.

Drivers often say we are powerless and that there’s no point fighting. Helio’s example shows the opposite.

Now imagine what could happen if 1,000 drivers stood up together.

The IWGB has already shown what organised drivers can achieve. We still have a lot to fight for, but our power comes from acting together.

If one driver can make this much difference, imagine what thousands of us could achieve.

Who’s ready to stand up and fight?

REVEALED: TfL has paid out £7 million after putting 18,000 London drivers out of work.

The truth? It's nowhere near enough!

We'll keep fighting until each one of those 18,000 drivers wins proper justice for the way TfL treated us.

Last year, London minicab drivers were forced out of their jobs and faced severe consequences when TfL management failures left them without valid licenses to work.

It has now come to light that a staggering 18,000 people lost their livelihoods due to the failures. TfL’s “goodwill payment scheme” offered these drivers just £300 or £500 - an insult to people who will be working extra hours every day for years trying to escape their debt and claw back the thousands and thousands of pounds they lost.

Through sustained protesting, the IWGB already won short term licenses, additional processing staff, acknowledgement of the failures, and eventually an end to the backlog. We will continue to fight and win this campaign until we see permanent reform of TfL’s system and get back every penny drivers are owed.

Tomorrow we will be holding a meeting to discuss the potentially imminent arrival of driverless cars on the streets of London.

We have an opportunity to change our futures but only if we get organised and fight back now.

Watch this short video of our branch vice chair Rez talking about driverless cars and the meeting tomorrow.

Join us at 5.30pm. Message for more details.

Drivers in Texas and New York have already managed to stop the rollout of driverless cars.
We can do the same in London - but only if we raise our voices TOGETHER.
We have a choice- we sit back and watch these driverless cars take our livelihoods, or we come together and force them off the streets. Which one are you choosing??

This evening we met with deactivated drivers at Laden restaurant in Edmonton. Many drivers joined us who have been unfairly deactivated by Uber. This is an issue that affects all drivers whether you have been deactivated or not- we are all at risk and need to come together to support those who have been deactivated and fight for changes to stop this from happening.

This was the first meeting of many we will be holding and was a great chance to come together, connect and build relationships. This is vital to building a movement that can put pressure on the licensing authorities and operator to stop mistreating drivers.

Keep your eyes peeled for the next drop in and if you have not yet joined us you can do so here https://iwgb.org.uk/en/join/private-hire-driver/
