Our sister centre Hargrave Hall Community Centre is looking for a new Holiday Playscheme Manager.

Do you have experience leading in a playscheme, childcare, or out-of-school setting?

The Play Patch is looking for an enthusiastic, organised, and self-motivated Holiday Playscheme Manager to lead our exciting HAF-funded holiday programme for children aged 5–13 years.

You’ll oversee a fun, creative, child-led playscheme across our Junior and Senior groups, helping deliver unforgettable holiday experiences through:

🎨 Arts & crafts
⚽ Sports & movement
🌳 Outdoor adventure
🏕️ Den building & creative play
🧘 Wellbeing & quiet spaces

We’re looking for someone who:
✔️ Leads with warmth, confidence, and energy
✔️ Can inspire and support a team
✔️ Is passionate about play and child development
✔️ Stays calm and organised in a busy setting
✔️ Has safeguarding and childcare experience

Key responsibilities include:
• Leading daily playscheme operations
• Supporting and supervising staff
• Managing safeguarding and welfare
• Building positive relationships with families
• Ensuring a safe, engaging environment for all children

📅 Includes Summer, Easter & Christmas holiday provision

Thank you to everyone who came along to the Girdlestone Get Together today!

It was fantastic to see so many residents drop in throughout the afternoon to share ideas, enjoy some tea and cake, and spend time chatting about the future of the estate. We’ve come away with lots of brilliant suggestions and ideas about activities, improvements, and ways to bring the community together – exactly what this project is all about.

This event is part of a funded five-year community project, where residents help shape how funding is used and what opportunities are created locally. Hearing your thoughts today is a huge step in making sure the ideas truly reflect what the community wants and needs.

We’ve got this lovely plaque up in the centre, but time’s marched on and the story behind it has slipped through our fingers. 🕰️✨

It mentions Joe Porter and Bemor Builders — who helped build the centre — but that’s all we know!

Does anyone out there have memories, stories, or even tiny scraps of history about this?

We’d love to piece it back together and honour it properly. 💛

Become a Food Advocate with Islington Food Partnership!

The Food Advocates volunteering programme is an exciting opportunity for local people with a passion for food to get involved. From October, we'll be training and supporting a small group of "advocates" to raise awareness of food issues in their community, share their experience of food in Islington (e.g. Food retail, food support, cooking etc.), and act as community connector, championing food support and opportunities across their communities. The group will meet monthly to share ideas and plan their work. Basic expenses covered.

You don't need to be an expert, just passionate about building stronger communities around food!
