Last week, MPs from across the House took part in a Westminster Hall debate on home-to-school transport.

The debate covered issues including transport for children with SEND, the impact of rising costs on local authorities, safety concerns, and the challenges many families face accessing education when suitable transport is unavailable.

If you weren't able to watch the debate live, you can read the full Hansard transcript here: https://f.mtr.cool/dmdhygwnij

Competition Time!
Young artists across the borough are invited to take part in an exciting competition to design Ealing Council’s 2026 Pride logo.
Ealing Council encourage young people to create a colourful A4 design representing Ealing borough’s LGBTQ+ community or the wider spirit of Pride.
Who can enter?
Open to both primary and secondary students, this is a fantastic opportunity for pupils to explore themes of diversity, inclusion and acceptance while showcasing their creativity.

Prizes
➢ The winning design will be featured at Pride in London on 4th July 2026 on flags, stickers and t-shirts worn by council staff.
➢ The overall winner will receive a £100 art voucher and a t-shirt featuring their artwork, while 2 runners-up will each win a £50 voucher.

How to enter:
Entries must be emailed to [email protected] . The design should be sent as a photo or scan with a covering email that includes:
 child’s name
 age
 name of school/setting
 name and contact details for a responsible adult
 T-shirt size.

Deadline: The deadline for entries is 5pm on Friday 19 June 2026.

Ealing Council looks forward to celebrating pupils’ creativity and sharing their work at this major national event.

SEND FRIENDLY SCREENINGS coming up At ActOne cinema in Acton W3:
ActOne is glad to introduce SEND Friendly screenings. The first public show will be Toy Story 5 on July 19th, 10:30am.

https://www.actonecinema.co.uk/send-friendly-screenings

SEND Friendly Screenings are specifically designed to help persons with special education needs. Lights are left on low, volume is reduced, the audience is free to move around and the screening room is equipped with cushions and yoga mats. Additionally, these screenings will run with no pre-show, so the advertised time will reflect the starting time of the film. They encourage the audience to arrive early to familiarise themselves with the space, if they so choose to.
They aim to schedule these screenings on Sunday mornings, whenever an appropriate title is available.

Thank you, Alison, for sharing!

For parents interested in contributing to autism and anxiety related research: Kings College London are reaching out to ask if you could complete an online survey to help parents/carers whose children may have anxiety problems.
The King's College London Attune Study is testing tools designed to identify behaviours associated with anxiety in children with various communication profiles. Benefits of participating include:

· £35 in vouchers

· A confidential report summarising what your responses indicate about your child

Previous participants say these individualised reports are helpful in annual review meetings and discussions with healthcare providers, including GPs.
To participate, your child must be between 7-18 years old and have special education needs. They seek participation of families whose children do and those whose children do not have anxiety problems, as well as children who speak in full sentences or have no spoken words.
Participation involves completing an online survey at your convenience, in one or several sittings. To learn more, refer to the flyer below or email Catherine Lawton at [email protected].
