Good luck to all the Young Adult Carers starting University this week. It's a daunting time for any young person but for YAC balancing Uni and caring responsibilities, it's even harder. YAC may choose to live at home to carry on caring or to return home regularly and miss out on the full Uni experience. University pastoral teams are now more aware of the challenges YAC face so if you know a young person who is struggling, please advise them to speak to the Uni or their local carers centre.

Many carers tell us that they feel increasingly isolated due to day to day services moving online. Parking using apps, loss of High Street banks, online prescription orders and health appointment bookings. Carers can easily become digitally excluded, but all of these things can make their lives easier if they know how to use them. Our partner CatBytes CIC provides digital inclusion workshops and support sessions in various locations and at different times of day. See their website for details https://catbytes.community/

Thinking of all young carers returning to school this week. We know it can be an anxious time as you leave those you care for and have to balance learning and caring. Please speak to a teacher, welfare team or school nurse and let them know you have caring responsibilities and what they can do to help you remain in school and thrive.
