Day 1 šŸ’Ž

Our team had an incredible first day at JCK connecting with members, designers, supporters, and industry professionals. We are grateful to exhibit in the Plumb Club Pavilion each year and it's very inspiring to be surrounded by so many hashtag members - especially as we are able to see your certified logos proudly displayed on your booths.

Come by and say hello at booth PC-100. We’ve got some exciting games and fun merch up for grabs, including RJC playing cards, chocolate poker chips, temporary tattoos and more.

šŸ“¢ We’re pleased to announce the release of our ā€˜Approval Criteria for Certification Bodies and Auditors’ document.

From June 2025, we will formally delegate the approval of audit firms to Assurance Services International (ASI). This approval will include accreditation from a participating accreditation body under the ASI Two-Tier Assurance Programme.

The hashtag has been collaborating with ASI since 2017 to support oversight of the audit firms conducting RJC audits. This development marks an important step in strengthening our assurance framework.

We encourage you to visit our website to review the updated procedure and find out how to join the growing network of audit firms and auditors delivering certification services to RJC members around the world.

The RJC team gathered with our key stakeholders in London for an unforgettable evening celebrating our 20th anniversary. We proudly launched our Annual Progress Report (APR) and reflected on the many milestones that have shaped the RJC into what it is today.

We heard from our Interim Executive Director, John Hall, and our Chairman, Dave Meleski, who both shared inspiring reflections on our journey and the road ahead.

A heartfelt thank you to everyone who was able to join us. Moments like these remind us how important it is to come together, not only to celebrate how far we have come, but also to look ahead to the work that lies ahead over the next 20 years.

Don’t forget to check out our 20th anniversary webpage where we share key moments from the last 20 years, insights from our members, and more!

Our members’ jewels and watches brought brilliance to the Met Gala. Each year, the theme sets the tone, drawn from the spring exhibition at the Metropolitan Museum of Art’s Costume Institute and echoed in the evening’s dress code. For 2025, the exhibition is titled Superfine: Tailoring Black Style, with the accompanying dress code, ā€˜Tailored for You’, celebrating the art and heritage of bespoke tailoring.

Today, on International Labour Day, we honour the rights of workers across the global jewellery and watch industry.

At the Responsible Jewellery Council, we are committed to upholding fair, safe, and inclusive working conditions through our Code of Practices and Laboratory Grown Material Standard. Our standards are designed to support human rights, promote responsible labour practices, and protect the dignity of everyone in the supply chain.

Let’s continue working together to ensure that respect, equity, and responsibility are at the heart of our industry.

šŸ“¢ RJC Members: Have Your Voice Heard!

The jewellery and watch industry is at a pivotal moment in addressing climate change. As new legislation comes into effect, and consumer expectations shift, reducing climate impact is more critical than ever. We’re launching an important climate research project and need your input. We would like you to take our short survey to help us understand your climate awareness, reporting, and strategy implementation.

Your insights will shape targeted solutions like workshops, educational materials, and advisory services. RJC members who take our survey will automatically be entered into a raffle with a chance to win a prize of RJC merchandise.

Our Head of Asian Development, Kinjal Shah, took part in a panel discussion titled ā€˜ESG as a Growth Strategy for Jewellers’ this month at the GJS India show.

It was a privilege to join such an esteemed group and share insights on the RJC, while also gaining valuable perspectives from across the jewellery and watch industry. Through these collaborative efforts, it's vital that we keep the conversation going, continually introducing fresh ideas and thought-provoking questions to drive progress.

A huge thank you to the fellow panellists and organisers. We’re always grateful for the opportunity to contribute to these important discussions from an RJC perspective.
