The Nimbhora Leprosy Relief and Rehabilitation Centre is home to twenty elderly residents living with the long‑term effects of leprosy. When the Diocese who had been providing funding, could no longer sustain it, closure became a frightening possibility. With your support, St Francis Leprosy Guild stepped in with emergency funds, keeping the centre open, restoring stability, and ensuring residents were not cast out again.

Today we remember the 800th anniversary of the passing of our patron saint, St Francis of Assisi.

His life of compassion and solidarity with the most vulnerable inspires our mission to support people affected by leprosy - offering treatment, restoring dignity, and standing beside those who are too often overlooked.

On this feast day, we pray for all those we serve, and for everyone who helps make this mission possible.

Behind every early diagnosis is a trained health worker who knows what to look for.

That’s why SFLG invests in training programmes that build confidence, skills, and long‑term capacity in local clinics. This year alone, we've trained 38 community health care workers across Nigeria, Bangladesh, India.

On 5 September, we celebrate the feast day of Mother Teresa, a woman whose courage helped to reshape how the world sees dignity, illness, and love.

One of the most powerful chapters of her mission was her work with people affected by leprosy in India. At a time when fear and stigma isolated thousands, she chose to walk towards those society pushed away.

As we mark her feast day, SFLG honours her legacy by continuing to spotlight those who are unseen, unheard, or pushed to the margins.

Today we celebrate St Clare of Assisi, a woman whose compassion and courage shone brightly in the lives of the poor and the sick.

Inspired by her friend St Francis, St Clare taught her Sisters to see Christ in every person, especially those who suffer or feel forgotten.

At St Francis Leprosy Guild, we carry that same spirit into our work with people affected by leprosy around the world — offering care, restoring dignity, and standing with those who need it most.

May St Clare inspire us all to serve with tenderness and hope.
