English language learners and women who are confident in English will participate in activities together, discovering the area, talking and forming relationships. This Saturday everyone together Newington Green Meeting House - 10am-12pm

In our 3rd cocreation workshop with Paint the Change we will be talking and thinking about the mural we want to paint to express what Xenia women feel about climate change. There will also be the opportunity to take a walk round Newington Green park if the session is busy or we get too hot!

🌱 What does climate change mean to you?

At our Saturday session, Xenia women explored climate change through conversation, shared experiences and drawing — thinking about what we’re noticing in our own communities and in different parts of the world.

From flooding and extreme weather to housing, pollution, green spaces and wildlife, we talked about what a cleaner, greener East London could look like — and what matters most to us. 🌳🐦🦔

These conversations are part of our project with Paint the Change, developing a new community mural in Hackney. 🎨

Last Saturday we talked about climate change and how it affects our lives. This Saturday we will think about our local area and the green places that help our community, like parks, trees and gardens.

A couple of weeks ago, we spent a wonderful afternoon exploring The Coming of Age exhibition Wellcome Collection together, with a brilliant guided tour that sparked conversations about ageing, identity and the lives we lead. 🧡

Our first climate session with Paint the Change for the campaign was full of important ideas and collective concern for the future of the planet

Risham Waseem shared her passion and knowledge while Xenia shared thoughts, worries and their experiences on a collective roll of paper. We learnt new words and shared ideas around climate change from countries represented in the room.

We're continuing the conversation next Saturday and then we have two more Saturday sessions in August where we will start thinking about what we want our mural to say.

Xenia is one of 8 community partners working with Paint the Change on project

This Saturday we starting a series of sessions that will shape Xenia's part of the project. The session is at from 10am-12pm.

Over the next 4 weeks we are going to have 4 sessions at Newington Green Meeting House talking about the project.

Session 1 - Environmental Issues and Action (1st August)
Session 2 - Community Asset mapping (8th August)
Session 3 - Creative activities and mural design (15th August)
Session 4 - Creative activities and mural design (22nd August)

There will be other activities from 8th August but this Saturday we will all be together to find out about the project.

All women welcome - please come along if you think this is a project you would be interested in shaping. As well as a mural we hope to broaden voices discussing climate change and think about action we can take in our community 💚🧡💚🧡💚
