A warm thanks to all the participants for joining us today to celebrate International Mother Language Day. We had a very stimulating yet convivial discourse on the theme “Youth voices on multilingual society and life."
All the participants agreed that how multilingualism can act as a bridge that fosters deep empathy, trust, and mutual respect by allowing individuals to connect through language, cultural nuances, and shared perspectives by reducing misunderstandings, breaks down stereotypes, and enhances emotional connection, making interactions more meaningful.
The light was shed on the origin of the mother language day by the Bengalis and the sacrifices of the language martyrs of Bangladesh in 1952 language movement, Ekushe February.
The discourse pointed out how the 1947 Partition of India—language was portrayed as being deeply partitioned, fragmented, and eroded alongside the physical and human destruction. The session ended up with cultural meditation where each participants shared multilingual words to weave poetry. 📖 📚 📜
