Today’s Coffee Club pop-up was hosted by Derek Buckley, Head of Coffee, guiding guests through the story, flavours and craft behind chai.

Moments like these are what FIKA is all about, creating spaces where people pause, learn something new, and connect over great drinks.

☕✨ This year, Derek Buckley, our Head of Coffee at FIKA and Bloom had the honour of joining the judging panel at the 2025 UK Barista Championship finals.

Judging isn’t easy. It takes years of experience, training, and deep dedication to the craft, something Derek has quietly poured into for several years now. While he’s been part of the UKBC judging team before, this year marked a special milestone: his first time judging at the finals.

It’s a real privilege to see someone from our team contribute to such a respected competition, recognising the talent and precision of baristas across the UK. Derek brings not only expertise but genuine care and humility and we’re grateful to have him guiding our coffee journey at FIKA and Bloom.

We’re proud to see him representing our community while continuing to learn, give back, and help shape the future of specialty coffee.
