Darul Jailani UK was established by the esteemed scholar, Shaykh Afeefuddin al-Jailani to spread the teachings of Shaykh Abdul Qadir al-Jailani and support all those who have taken a spiritual path. It is run by students of Shaykh Afeefuddin, and provides classes and online material in English, including those taught by Shaykh Afeefuddin, his students, and others supportive of the aims of Darul Ja
ilani. It aims to be inclusive of all aspirants on the spiritual path, especially those who have an interest in the Way (tariqa) of the 12th century scholar, Shaykh Muhyi-al-Din Abu Muḥammad b. Abu Salih, Sultan al-Awliya, Abd al-Qadir al-Jailani. Shaykh Afeefuddin al-Jailani is the 19th direct descendant of Shaykh Abd al-Qadir al-Jailani and the 33rd direct descendant of Prophet Muhammad, upon him be peace. Born and raised in Baghdad, Shaykh Afeefuddin grew up among and trained under many scholars associated with his great ancestor, one of the most eminent of which was the late M***i of Iraq, Shaykh Abdul Karim al Mudarris. The M***i granted him the credentials of ijaza ilmiya, a verified teaching license in the Islamic sciences, and greatly influenced his approach to calling people to Allah, which focuses on developing good character and love of the Prophet Muhammad, upon him be peace. Shaykh Afeefuddin completed his training at the hands of Shaykh Abdul Karim, specialising in the shari’a sciences, going on to become a popular Imam and Khatib in several mosques in Baghdad, including the Mosque of Shaykh Abd al-Qadir al-Jailani. Shaykh Afeefuddin continues to have a strong connection to the mosque and spiritual centre of Shaykh Abd al-Qadir al-Jailani in Baghdad, as does his family and teachers in Baghdad. Shaykh Afeefuddin specializes in jurisprudence and spirituality, and has established a worldwide network of students, including those that established Darul Jailani UK. Darul Jailani UK operates under the umbrella of Darul Jailani International and its associated institutions elsewhere, including Darul Jailani Malaysia, Darul Jailani Australia, Darul Jailani Sri Lanka, Darul Jailani Indonesia, and elsewhere.
