Our Legal Advice Clinic offers young people aged 16-25 the opportunity to engage in one-on-one sessions with an experienced solicitor to address any questions they may have about applying for or renewing their immigration status.

Wednesday sessions are held in person at our We Belong London office and Thursday sessions are held remotely via Zoom.

The Institute for Public Policy Research published a new report calling for a major reform of the UK Citizenship system and clearer routes to settlement. 📣

How do you get young migrants in the room where decisions are made? 💁🏽‍♀️

By providing a platform and empowering them to lead the change they want to see.

Young people, especially young migrants, are often excluded from the policymaking process and this leads to immigration policies and barriers that further exclude us from accessing opportunities. Barriers such as:

Employment Bias: Young people with Limited Leave to Remain are often excluded from accessing their first jobs because they are considered temporary.

Student Finance Rules: Blocking young people from going to university.🏫

Or like the proposed changes to earned settlement which continue to create uncertainty for young people and our families who call the UK home.

By working with our communities, government officials and local authorities to understand the issues young migrants face and to support them in addressing the challenges that form part of our everyday lives, we can create a more equitable and just society.

This programme, designed by young migrants for young migrants, has transformed the lives of hundreds of young people. 🙌

After running for 10 years, even during COVID, the Emerging Young Leaders programme has supported 132 young people in developing their leadership styles and forging their stories of self.

What started as a response to fill the gaps left by the lack of access to opportunities for young people who were blocked from entering university or employment because of their immigration status has now become a pillar in We Belong's services in supporting young people.

Since then, the course has transformed into a fully CPD-accredited course designed to develop young migrants' strengths and leadership styles, focusing on skills such as leadership theories, power and negotiation, resilience and vulnerability.
