From artwork to finished cover… we’re delighted to reveal the completed front cover of this year’s edition of Keeping the British End Up, the official 007GB club magazine.

At its heart is the beautiful bespoke artwork created exclusively for 007GB by renowned artist Jeff Marshall, celebrating the 20th anniversary of Casino Royale and the enduring legacy of Daniel Craig’s debut as James Bond.

And we’re delighted to announce that this year’s magazine is set to make its debut at OPERATION: ROYALE on Saturday 12th September!

007GB members attending the event will have the exclusive opportunity to be the first in the world to receive their copies, hot off the press, as we celebrate Casino Royale at 20 with director Martin Campbell in person in London.

This year’s bumper-packed edition has been a real labour of love, and we can’t wait for members to finally get their hands on it.

OPERATION: ROYALE - BEFORE CASINO ROYALE, THERE WAS GOLDENEYE

In 1995, James Bond was back.

On 12th September, we can’t wait to revisit the story of GoldenEye when Martin Campbell joins us IN PERSON in London for OPERATION: ROYALE, sharing his memories and stories from behind the camera as part of our special In Conversation + audience Q&A.

Six years after Licence to Kill, 007 returned to cinema screens in GoldenEye, with Pierce Brosnan making his debut as James Bond and Martin Campbell directing his first 007 adventure.

The world had changed. The Cold War was over. And after what had been the longest gap between Bond films to that point, the question was whether James Bond still had a place in the 1990s.

GoldenEye answered emphatically.

From the now-iconic, heart-racing bungee jump from the top of the Verzasca Dam, continuing Bond’s great tradition of spectacular pre-title sequence stunts, to the streets of St Petersburg, the glamour of Monte Carlo and the jungles of Cuba, GoldenEye delivered one unforgettable set piece after another. And who could forget Bond behind the controls of a tank, tearing through St Petersburg in pursuit of General Ourumov? Martin delivered a Bond film that felt reassuringly familiar, yet completely reinvigorated for a new era.

It also marked a new chapter behind the camera, as Barbara Broccoli and Michael G. Wilson took the reins as producers, continuing the legacy established by Albert R. ‘Cubby’ Broccoli.

Eleven years later, Martin would be entrusted with reinventing Bond all over again with Daniel Craig in Casino Royale.

And at OPERATION: ROYALE, we’ll hear directly from Martin about BOTH of these extraordinary chapters: GoldenEye, Casino Royale, introducing two new James Bonds and his memories and stories from behind the camera.

OPERATION: ATAC – PIECES OF BOND HISTORY

One of the things that makes our 007GB events so special is the generosity of members who help us bring the world of James Bond that little bit closer.

For OPERATION: ATAC, celebrating 45 years of FOR YOUR EYES ONLY, 007GB member Alan Stephenson brought along an incredible display of original pieces from his personal collection for fellow members to view and enjoy.

Among the items on display was the screen-used costume worn by Lynn-Holly Johnson as Bibi Dahl, complete with earmuffs and ski goggles, alongside some fascinating pieces created for the film’s miniature sequences.

These included a miniature diver holding the ATAC machine, used during the underwater filming, and a miniature of Sir Roger Moore as James Bond, created for the film’s dramatic final climbing sequence.

But Alan had another very special surprise for everyone attending…

A 35mm film print of the original FOR YOUR EYES ONLY trailer, which he incredibly generously allowed members to actually cut individual frames from and take home as their own unique keepsake from the day.

A little piece of Bond history to keep.

Our huge thanks to Alan for creating such a fantastic display, for once again sharing pieces from his remarkable personal collection with the 007GB community, and for his continued support of the club and our fundraising efforts.

Alan also very generously donated a bottle of 007 Bollinger to our charity raffle, helping us raise even more in support of UNICEF.

It is these extra-special touches, and the generosity behind them, that help make our events about so much more than simply seeing incredible pieces of Bond history. They give our members the opportunity to experience, enjoy and sometimes even take home a small part of it.

OPERATION: ATAC – WELCOME TO Q LAB

Before the guests arrived. Before the covers came off. Before OPERATION: ATAC officially began…

Our Top Secret Q Lab was ready.

For this year’s celebration of 45 years of FOR YOUR EYES ONLY, we wanted to create something truly special for 007GB members, bringing together an extraordinary collection of James Bond vehicles and presenting them in our very own Goodwood Festival of Speed-style display.

And what a line-up it was.

Aston Martins spanning multiple Bond films. The BMW from TOMORROW NEVER DIES. The Triumph motorcycle from NO TIME TO DIE. And, fittingly for our celebration of FOR YOUR EYES ONLY, both versions of the Lotus Esprit featured in the film.

All beautifully presented throughout Q Lab and waiting for our agents to arrive.

But these incredible machines weren’t simply there to be admired from behind a rope.

Throughout the day, members would have the opportunity to get up close, climb inside, sit behind the wheel and capture photographs with some truly special pieces of James Bond history.

These are the kinds of unique experiences and opportunities we want to create through 007GB. Bringing the Bond community closer to the films we all love and providing access to things you simply don’t get to experience anywhere else.

The stage was set.

Q Lab was ready for OPERATION: ATAC.

And then the agents arrived…

OPERATION: ROYALE – GOLDENEYE: MARTIN CAMPBELL’S FIRST BOND

In 1995, a new era of James Bond began.

After a six-year absence from cinema screens, Pierce Brosnan made his debut as 007 in GoldenEye, directed by Martin Campbell.

It was Martin’s first Bond film and the beginning of a remarkable place in 007 history. Eleven years later, he would do it all over again, introducing Daniel Craig as James Bond in Casino Royale.

As part of OPERATION: ROYALE, Martin Campbell will be joining us LIVE AND IN PERSON in London, and GoldenEye will form an important part of our special In Conversation with Martin Campbell.

Alongside Casino Royale, we’ll be taking Martin back to 1995 to hear about his first experience directing a Bond film, working with Pierce Brosnan as he stepped into the role of 007, and his memories and stories from bringing GoldenEye to the screen.

The first chapter of OPERATION: ROYALE will offer attendees a rare opportunity to hear directly from Martin Campbell, live and in person in London, for a special In Conversation exploring his extraordinary career and contribution to the world of James Bond.

Martin holds a unique place in 007 history as the director who introduced not one, but two James Bonds to the world: Pierce Brosnan in GoldenEye and Daniel Craig in Casino Royale.

We’ll hear directly from Martin about his experiences making both films, how he came to return to Bond more than a decade after GoldenEye, and some of his memories and stories from behind the scenes.

With Martin currently in the midst of a busy filming schedule, we are incredibly fortunate that he has made time to join us in person for this one-off event.
