This week, community food co-ops in north London got a massive wheel of creamy brie and a bunch of mozzarella packs each, loads of lush fruit and veg, bread, rice and all the usual goodies, plus some posh chocolate. All for a fiver!

Do you live in Tottenham, north east London?
Do you want to save on your weekly food costs, meet your neighbours and become a community food co-op organiser?
Then come to Cooperation Tottenham's Open Day and find out how to join.

Tuesday 9 June between 2-5pm at High Cross Church, Colsterworth Rd N15 4BG.
Drop in. No need to book.

Cooperation Tottenham has been organising since 2020 and is now taking on new members.
All members live within walking distance from the space and take turns to select what to buy, unload and pack boxes, manage the members payment list and tidy up at the end of the day. They get to know each other, share skills and experience and save a ton of money in the process 🙂

Welcome Cooperation WREN, the newest co-op to join our movement!

Coop WREN members are all part of the Warehouse Residents Network, living in Haringey’s warehouse district, in north east London.

The co-op founding meeting was held outdoors yesterday evening, as members were helping to defend their neighbours from being violently evicted by a rouge landlord.
This is the kind of community action we love to see in co-ops and we are very proud of our new members’ solidarity and resilience!

We believe Cooperation WREN is the 70th co-op in our movement - but we’re not 100% sure, because we keep hearing of groups using our model to organise autonomously in their neighbourhoods.

Are you part of a Cooperation Town food co-op that we haven’t heard of? Send us the details and we’ll add you to our movement map.
Are you not a coop member? Why not??

We wanna reach 100 co-ops by the end of 2026. Get in touch via cooperation.town if you’re curious and we’ll help you and your neighbours set on up on your street or estate.

Hi - publicly owned grocery stores are great, but have you heard about community food co-ops?
is supporting people across England to set up neighbourhood buying groups on their streets and housing estates. Our members collectively save almost £2M a year on their food costs, while learning to become community organisers!
Cooperation Town food co-ops are not stores (there’s no rent, managers or a ton of admin and logistics and they def don’t cost $30M to set up) - they are small hyper-local structures, owned and self organised by members, who share all the responsibility of running the group.
Check out www.cooperation.town to find out more and drop us a line if you wanna chat about how we can help New Yorkers to start their own community food co-ops.

Our Learning Garden at Cooperation Town Hub in Gospel Oak will be open to the public on Tuesday 21 April, as part of the programme.

Cooperation Town garden produces food for the community 12 months a year 🥦
Check out what's growing in the veg beds and the greenhouse and learn about ways to get involved.

Wanna get your hands dirty? We have the tools!
Our growing coordinator, Chris, will guide you through the different activities and share tips for plants you can grow at home, in a balcony or on your windowsill.

We will be open tomorrow 12noon - 4pm.
See you in the garden!

Cooperation Town members and workers will be at the national housing demo today in central London.

Why are we demonstrating?
- High rents push working class communities out of our neighbourhoods, while wealthy people move in
- Unhealthy homes are making us and our kids sick, stressed and isolated
- Our community spaces are being sold off to build more luxury flats for the rich
- Landlords (enabled by policy) are our class enemies

We will join housing groups, tenants unions and others organising to demand rent caps, more social housing and better rights for renters, not landlords.

Cooperation Town folks will be marching with comrades in the Health Justice bloc (meeting outside Soho theatre at 12:30). Look out for the Coop Town banner.

See you on the streets!

Join Cooperation Town members and workers at the national housing demo this Saturday, 18 April, in central London.
Look out for then Coop Town banner!

Why are we demonstrating?
- High rents push working class communities out of our neighbourhoods, while wealthy people move in
- Unhealthy homes are making us and our kids sick, stressed and isolated
- Our community spaces are being sold off to build more luxury flats for the rich
- Landlords are our class enemies

BUT it doesn’t have to be this way! Tenants around the world are organising to demand rent caps, more social housing and better rights for renters, not landlords.

That’s why this Saturday we’re joining thousands on the streets for the biggest housing demo of our lives!

Join us with your fellow co-op members, friends and neighbours. Kids are super welcome (there’s a families block).

See you on the streets!
