ODU-UK & Ireland Donates 100 School Desks to Migrant Farmers’ Primary School, Osu Offi.
The Oron Development Union, UK & Ireland (ODU-UK & Ireland) has once again demonstrated its commitment to education and community development through the successful donation of 100 school desks to Migrant Farmers’ Primary School, Osu Offi, Okobo Local Government Area, Akwa Ibom State, Nigeria.
This meaningful project was made possible through the generous contributions and sacrifices of ODU members during the Walk to Support Education held in the UK earlier this year. The official presentation took place on 21st October 2025 at the school premises.
Representing ODU-UK & Ireland, Comrade Edet Eyo, President of the Oron Youth Movement, expressed heartfelt appreciation to the Union for their enduring commitment to improving learning conditions back home. He encouraged the Head Teacher to ensure the proper care of the donated desks.
In her response, Mrs. Ima Uduak, Head Teacher of the school, was full of joy and gratitude, noting that the pupils had been sitting on the floor for years. The donation, she said, brought hope and dignity back to the classroom. The atmosphere was filled with excitement as the children danced and celebrated the arrival of their new desks.
We extend our deepest appreciation to the President, Executive, and Members of ODU-UK & Ireland for their vision, leadership, and continued commitment to advancing education in Oron communities.
A special acknowledgment goes to Mr. Attai, whose dedication and coordination ensured that the project was delivered on time in Nigeria.
We also commend members of the Oro Next Generation Team, who were present at the event to support the distribution of books and arrangement of the desks showcasing the spirit of unity across generations.
In addition to the desks, 40 dozens of exercise books and biro pens were also distributed to the pupils, courtesy of Lady Atai Bassey, President of ODU-UK & Ireland, and Mr. Victor Mkpofor. Their generosity further enhanced the impact of this initiative by providing essential learning materials for the children.
This project stands as a powerful reminder that when communities unite with purpose, real change happens. ODU-UK & Ireland remains committed to supporting education, empowering young minds, and building a brighter future for Oron and beyond.
God Bless ODU-UK & Ireland
God Bless Oro Nation
Mr. Victor Mkpofor
Chairman, Project Implementation Committee.
