Our annual boat party with Imperial College Bioengineering Society is TOMORROW! 🚢🎉

A few things to know before we set sail:

📍 Meet at Temple Pier (WC2R 2PN) at 6:30pm on Friday 9th October
 ⏰ The boat departs at 7:00pm sharp, so please arrive on time
 🪪 This event is strictly 18+. Remember to bring physical ID
 🥂 Only alcohol purchased at the bar will be permitted on board
 💙 Our welfare officer, Eddy, will be on board throughout the evening. Please don’t be afraid to speak to him should any issues arise or you have any questions about accessibility!

☃️We’d also recommend you bring a jacket as it can get quite chilly later on in the evening (there is space for this and any bags on the boat)

Freshers week is finally here! Here’s whats on:

Departmental Societies Meet and Greet: Tuesday 29th September, 1-2pm @ Mullys. No ticket required!

Departmental Welcome Fair: Wednesday 30th September, 4-7pm Haldane Room, Yellow Room, North Cloisters and Wilkins Terrace. Tickets available in our bio!

Engineering Pub Crawl: Thursday 1st October from 6pm onwards, starting at the Engineering Café. Tickets available in our bio!

You can also find us at the Welcome Fair on Sunday the 4th of October all day on the main campus, where you can have the chance to win one of 5 exclusive MPBE hoodies for free before the merch drop!

This February we had the opportunity to fly to Germany 🇩🇪 to tour around Fresenius Medical Care - The world’s largest manufacturer of haemodialysis machines ⚙️ .

It was a bright and early start, with 20 lucky MPBE students assembling at Stansted Airport for 6am ⏰✈️ to catch a flight to Nuremberg Airport.

After a short flight, we travelled on the U-bahn into the city 🚊, where we did a bit of exploring before having a traditional Bavarian lunch at Bratwurstglöcklein 🥨🍽️.

We then made our way to Würzburg where we were staying and got settled in. We spent a few days in the city, sightseeing and sampling lots of local food and drink 🥘🥔🍺(bratwurst and potato salad were enjoyed by all 🙂) before heading down for our visit to Fresenius Medical Care’s flagship R&D and manufacturing site.

Here we got to speak with industry leaders and experts (including a video message from UCL alumni and Global Chief Medical Officer: Charles Hughes Jones) and ask lots of questions 🗯️ ! We toured the facility and got to see first hand some of the the research and work going on at Fresenius 🔬. This was lead by Arne Peters who was a fantastic guide!

Massive thank you to our Outreach Manager Catharina for all the hard work that went into organising this trip ❤️ (and her excellent German 👏)! Stay tuned to see what we have planned for this year 👀👀

Quick recap of some of this year’s events!

We started the year with a pizza night to welcome all our incoming first years🍕and a visit from Jeremy Beartham at the freshers fair 🐻

Later on we had the opportunity to tour around Automa labs ⚙️🧫 and Panda labs 🦾🐼. This was a really interesting experience and we learned a lot from everyone there

We celebrated Lunar New Year in February by sharing a delicious meal at DaGe Clay Pot Noodles and Skewers 🧧😋

We then rounded up the year with a conference with Imperial College Bioengineering Society down in their South Kensington Campus 🎥We got to hear from a range of speakers from across the field and ask lots of questions!

Thank you to everyone who spoke at, organised and came our events this year and a big thank you to our sponsors Rosa's Thai !! ❤️

We look forward to seeing you all again in September and to welcoming our 2026/2027 cohort!
