Thank you to everyone who joined our Bat Walk & Survey along the River Wandle, as part of Wandle Fortnight.

It was lovely to see so many of you and to have Joseph leading the walk again.

We took part in the Bat Conservation Trust Sunset Survey and saw/heard two species of bat: Common Pipistrelle and Soprano Pipistrelle🦇.

We are extremely grateful to the Wandle Valley Forum for awarding us a grant to buy some of our own Magenta 4 bat detectors. Thank you to Friends of Mitcham Common for letting us borrow some of theirs too 🦇

Join us for another Bat Walk & Survey, this time along the River Wandle! Led by Joseph, we’ll use bat detectors to spot and listen to local bats in action. We’ll also be taking part in the Bat Conservation Trust's Sunset Survey, led by Emma.

This event is part of the Wandle Fortnight—a celebration of the Wandle Valley run by the community, for the community.

A special thank you to the Wandle Valley Forum for funding some bat detectors through their grant scheme, and to the Friends of Mitcham Common for lending us extra equipment so everyone can take part!

Two weeks till our Butterfly Walk & Survey and there's only 5 tickets left!!

Led by Richard, a member of the Surrey & SW London Butterfly Conservation, and help us take part in the Butterfly Conservation Big Butterfly Count!

We are charging a small ticket fee (+ Eventbrite fees) to help cover the running costs of Our Wild Life, and we are pleased to donate 20% of every ticket sold directly to Butterfly Conservation to support their vital work.

We are looking forward to attending the Friends of Mitcham Common open day tomorrow.

Emma will be there leading a Wildlife Survey Walk - where she will introduce wildlife recording and the existing citizen science surveys happening on the Common.

We will also have a small information stall and be displaying a selection of photos from our Sunset Photo with Wild London.

One of our members, Johnathon, is also leading a Plant & Tree walk.

We hope to see some of you there ☺️

We are looking forward to exhibiting some of the photos from our Sunset Photo Walk at the Friends of Mitcham Common Open Day on Saturday.

Emma will also be leading a Wildlife Survey Walk, which will be an introduction to citizen science surveys and wildlife recording 💚
