The Templar Pilgrimage Trust are proud to support the Godparents scheme and have received The Christian name of our Godchild.

Thank you so much for agreeing to become a ‘godparent’. For several years this has proved to be a valuable way of supporting our young pilgrims. Your personal support makes it possible for us to make their experience of Walsingham positive and fruitful.

Following next week, you will receive a specially commissioned postcard from your godchild, and images of the event will appear on the Shrine website shortly afterwards.

It is the last chance to take part in our Godparents scheme. We will be closing it at 9.00am on Monday 22nd July so we can pair up God parents with a Godchild. In 2023 the Godparents raised an amazing £17,097 (including giftaid) to support Young People to attend the Walsingham Youth Pilgrimage.
We would like young people to have the opportunity to come regardless of their financial circumstances. Your financial help is important, but above all it creates a bond of fellowship, prayer and love with the young people.

Another newly restored pilgrim route - the St James Way, which runs some 70 miles to Southampton from Reading, a focus of devotion to St James in medieval England. From Southampton, pilgrims would have set sail for Spain on their way to Santiago de Compostella.

The UK section of the pilgrimage runs through Berkshire and Hampshire to Southampton, where the faithful would set sail for Spain. And it’s now all waymarked

Welcome to the page of the Templar Pilgrimage Trust.

We make grants to help individuals and groups wishing to make a pilgrimage to a Christian shrine but needing funds to travel.

We are especially keen to assist young pilgrims and pilgrims with disabilities to make pilgrimages by providing them with funding.

We want pilgrims to experience the many benefits pilgrimages offer.

We want to help them make extraordinary journeys.

Further north still!

Trondheim, the burial place of St Olav, was recognised as the most northerly place of pilgrimage in Christendom from the Middle Ages. Pilgrims have travelled there since the 11th century. Today, there is a network of eight different paths leading to Trondheim.
