Statement by Mohammad Bashir Baashir, President of the Equal Rights Trust Organization
As the winter of 2025 approaches, the people of Afghanistan are facing an unprecedented crisis in the realms of economics, society, and humanitarian needs. Widespread poverty, rampant unemployment, natural disasters, and the forced migration of millions from neighboring countries have placed the lives of the Afghan people in grave danger. Over 90% of Afghanistan’s population is directly affected by these crises, and the emergency situation, particularly during the harsh winter months, has further intensified their suffering.
Afghanistan continues to grapple with devastating natural disasters such as earthquakes, floods, and severe droughts, which have depleted vital resources, including access to clean drinking water, to dangerously low levels.
The Equal Rights Trust Organization urgently calls upon the international community and global media outlets to take immediate and decisive action to support the people of Afghanistan. These crises can only be addressed through global solidarity and coordinated efforts, backed by both material and diplomatic support.
We urge media organizations to bring immediate attention to this dire situation and call upon international organizations to step up their efforts in providing humanitarian aid, rebuilding the country, and addressing the essential needs of the Afghan people.
The people of Afghanistan need immediate assistance, and this is a critical moment for the international community to stand with them in their time of need.
Sincerely,
Mohammad Bashir Baashir
President, Equal Rights Trust Organization
