Applications are now open for the Windrush Leadership Programme.

Sponsored by NHS England, the programme aims to provide equity of access to leadership opportunities for nurses and midwives from Black, Asian or Ethnic Minority backgrounds.

Through leadership workshops, action learning sets and a quality improvement project focused on health inequalities, participants will build leadership skills, increase confidence, refine their leadership style and strengthen their personal impact.

Previous programme participant, Adedayo Oriade, Renal Nurse, said of the experience:

"Completing the Windrush Leadership Programme was a huge milestone for me as a renal nurse and emerging leader...I developed a nurse-led quality improvement project focused on inequalities in access to living donor kidney transplantation for BAME haemodialysis patients. Developing the project showed me how nurses can identify inequalities within everyday practice and use their position to make practical changes that improve the way patients are informed and supported."

Take the next step in your leadership journey and help drive positive change in healthcare.

Nurses and midwives are at the heart of health and care, leading change in some of the most complex environments in society.

We are proud that Florence Nightingale Foundation scholars, programme participants and alumni have improved patient outcomes, influenced policy, transformed services, and strengthened teams across the UK and internationally.

Behind every achievement is a nurse or midwife making a difference for patients, colleagues and communities.
