Last week, we were delighted to announce Anu, a pupil at Woodfield Primary School as the winner of our 'Dear Ed' Creative Writing Competition - Congratulations Anu!🥳
As part of Doncaster's Great Green Read, hundreds of children from 18 primary schools wrote to Ed Miliband MP and Secretary of State for Energy Security and Net Zero, sharing their thoughts, ideas and hopes for the environment and our planet🌎
Ed Miliband MP, alongside local MP Sally Jameson, and representatives from Rotary, who kindly donated the prizes, presented Anu with a certificate and prize. Woodfield Primary School also received funding to help develop its own eco area, creating a wonderful space for pupils to enjoy, while supporting nature.
Runners up included pupils from St Joseph’s, Edlington Victoria, Canon Popham and New Pastures schools, with Plover, Long Toft and Scawsby Junior schools all achieving ‘Highly Commended’ entries.
Ed Miliband, who wrote back to every school that entered, said:
“It was a pleasure to visit Woodfield Primary School last week to present Anu with her prize for her fantastic letter. It is encouraging to see so many young people in Doncaster taking an interest in the environmental challenges we face and the opportunities to protect our planet.”
