🎉🐿️ **WOW! What an AMAZING day!** 🐿️🎉

Yesterday really was a fantastic way to celebrate **5 amazing years of our Squirrels!** 🎂🥳

We packed the day with fun, laughter and plenty of adventure! 🙌 We enjoyed **party food 🍕, made sensory bottles 🧪, created birthday cards 🎨, played rugby 🏉 and took on some brilliant parachute games 🪂** — all topped off with a campfire 🔥, songs 🎶 and, most importantly… **CAKE! 🎂😋**

A huge **THANK YOU** to all our epic Squirrels for being their wonderfully inquisitive little selves 🐿️💚 and to our fantastic leaders and parents for giving up their time and helping make the day so special. 👏💙

And we had some very special guests joining us too! ⭐ You may have noticed a well-known **Scouting Ambassador, Warwick Davis**, was there to join the celebrations! 🙌 He even commented on the incredible **energy and enthusiasm** everyone brought to the day! ⚡️👏

We were also incredibly proud to have the **brand-new UK Youth Lead** invest one of our very own Squirrel Team Members into the group. 🌟🐿️ A huge **THANK YOU, Satvika!** 💚

What a fantastic day of celebration, friendship and Scouting fun! 🎉🔥🐿️

On Monday Scouts from across the London Region performed a ceremonial stair guard for the Installation Banquet at Mercers' Hall. The Installation Banquet was to celebrate the installation of a new Master for the new year. The Master was Mrs Caroline Turnball-Hall, who has an extensive career in the tax profession at PwC and is currently a member of the Regulatory Policy Committee for the UK Government.

The Banquet was attended by Masters of other Livery Companies, high profile members of the tax profession, representatives of the Chartered Institute of Taxation (CIOT) and Commanding Officers of the Livery Company’s military affiliations.

Our London Region Scouts provided the largest stair guard the livery company has ever had, and what an excellent way to cement our relationship with the livery companies of the City of London. We very much look forward to the official photos in the coming weeks!

Last weekend 12 Squirrels, 20 Beavers, 33 Cubs, 25 Scouts, 11 Explorers (101 participants in total) from seven different Scout Groups across Lambeth and Lewisham took part in an Urban Hike Challenge. The Challenge covered three distances - 5km, 10km and 15km, with support from a huge team of Scout leadership volunteers, Explorers and parent volunteers.

All Sections were represented from Squirrels to Explorers which is amazing!!!

Some notable stories . . .
•⁠ ⁠A super young Squirrel from 4th Lewisham (Hither Green) completing the 5km which was his first Scout event and longest walk without a carry. 🥰
•⁠ ⁠⁠An epic team of 7 and 8yo Cubs and Beavers from 1st New Cross successfully completing the 15km route. 💪🏻
•⁠ ⁠⁠Some excellent map reading from unaccompanied Scout and Explorer Teams (1st New Cross, 32nd Deptford, 3rd Crofton Park).
•⁠ ⁠⁠A team from 32nd Deptford including two Squirrels smashing the previous course record for the 5km and completing it in a time of 1hr 29min.
•⁠ ⁠⁠8th Lambeth Scouts narrowly taking the Scout course record for the 10km (beating the previous time by three minutes!).
•⁠ ⁠⁠Two teams of very determined Cubs from 12th Lewisham North taking the whole event in their stride.
•⁠ ⁠⁠No-one got lost and every single person managed to complete their chosen distance.

A MASSIVE thank you to the team of volunteers for organising the event - people like you make Scouting happen across our districts - you are amazing! ! !

You would have seen Skippy posting on here last Thursday to show the set up for our AGM and Awards night. Well the other half of the GLV duo Jo is now here to show off all our YP with their awards. We handed out Chief Scout Acorn Awards, Chief Scout Bronze Awards, Chief Scout Silver Awards, Chief Scout Gold Awards and a bounty full for our Young leaders and Explorers over Golden Hind ESU. We also handed out our section of the year awards!

We at the First New Cross and Golden Hind ESU are incredibly proud of all of our young people for the work they put into gain these awards.

But similarly we are extremely grateful to all of our incredible volunteers from the leaders who show up weekly, to the parents that drive to / from camp, to the grandparents who’s sew on the badges that our young people earn.

We could not do it without you all. So thank you.

Awards and AGM ✔️

Slightly different take on it this year. Our famous Sorting Hat came out to play and took control of the business end of the proceedings!

So many amazing achievements and awards presented tonight. I am such a proud and happy GLV. The leaders, the young people and the parent helpers are all amazing.
