Choctaw Nation and visited the Lewisham Irish Community Centre a fortnight ago. 

Ryan and Reno, members of the Choctaw Nation, joined our Elders group to discuss the Choctaw Irish connection. In 1847, the Choctaw Nation sent $172 of aid to the starving in Ireland during the Great Famine. 

As a gesture of gratitude, the Irish Elders presented a gift of their own to Ryan and Reno. Our guests had lunch with our elders and even hosted the bingo!

Join us for a relaxed, fun Sponsored Walk this March! It’s a fantastic way to get some fresh air, meet new people, and support a good cause. As a charity, we need your support to keep our centre going.

The walk starts at the Lewisham Irish Community Centre, we’ll walk to Greenwich, Deptford and finish at Telegraph Hill!

You can come by yourself or bring a group, it’s all about having fun and making a difference. It’s free to sign up and all the sponsorship money you raise goes back into delivering community services!

Did you know the Salmon of Knowledge's mythological tale? After eating nine eating nine hazelnuts that fell into the Well of Wisdom, the Salmon absorbed all the world's knowledge. Humans fortunate enough to devour this salmon are rewarded with omniscience.

St Patrick’s Festival 2026 ☘️

Are you ready for a week full of music, Irish culture, and community? We’ve got a fantastic lineup of events to celebrate St. Patrick’s Day 2026. Whether you’re looking for a dance, a traditional meal, or some creative crafts, there’s something for everyone.

📅 What’s On:
• Thursday 12 March (10:30am–12:30pm)
Community Connections Partnership: Kick off the week with Arts & Crafts and a Fun Quiz!

• Friday 13 March (1:30pm–5:00pm)
Lewisham Irish Elders & Friends: A festive St. Patrick’s Day Lunch featuring Live Music and our Big Raffle. 📞 Call 07956 509033 to book your spot.

• Saturday 14 March (5:00pm–7:00pm)
Fun Irish Family Céilí: Bring the whole family for Irish Myths & Legends crafts and Céilí dancing! Delicious food will be available.

• Tuesday 17 March (1:30pm–5:00pm)
St. Patrick’s Day Celebration: Join us on the big day for traditional Irish Stew & Soda Bread and live music from Rosanna & Toby. (Booking required)

• Wednesday 18 March
Lewisham Food Cycle Partnership: A warm Community Meal paired with classic Irish Singalongs.
