Maternity Action We offer free legal advice to pregnant women and new parents who are experiencing discrimination in the workplace.

We protect and strengthen the rights of pregnant women and new parents to employment, social security and free NHS maternity care, irrespective of migration status. National advice line:

0808 802 0057 open every weekday except Wednesdays from 10 am and 1 pm

There are also a range of info sheets available on our website covering a broad range of subjects including maternity discrimination, money for parents and babies, employment rights and health and safety. We also offer advice on NHS charging for maternity care:

While self-employed parents don't have the same entitlements as employees, you may still be protected against pregnancy discrimination and could qualify for Maternity Allowance and other family benefits.

Working through a heatwave while pregnant? You have rights.

Hot weather can make pregnancy more challenging, increasing the risk of dehydration, dizziness and heat exhaustion. If your workplace isn't keeping you safe, you can ask for a pregnancy risk assessment and reasonable adjustments to help protect your health and your baby's.
