🚲🍋‍🟩 TODAY’S LIME LAND UPDATE:

Well… that went fu***ng brilliantly. 😂

The plan was 55km.

The reality was 5 laps of Vicky Park, one rogue decision, one car sending me into the kerb and me becoming one giant graze from head to toe. 🙄😂

A&E ✔️
Head scan ✔️
Chest X-ray ✔️
Still alive ✔️
Dignity ❌

Apparently the Lime landed directly on my chest, just to really round off the experience. 🍋‍🟩💀

BUT… I’m all clear, just need a few recovery days - and apparently I’m allowed back on the bike next week. 😂

Three weeks tomorrow until London to Brighton. 🚲🔥

So we regroup. We recover. Then we fu***ng RIDE.🚲🍋‍🟩🤘🏼

And honestly… after today, I feel like my injuries have earned you making a donation. 😂😭

🥫👑 FRIYAY FOOD PANTRY CREW APPRECIATION POST! 👑🥫

Big Boss Fran’s away… but the team still PLAY! 😂✊🏼

Today we’re celebrating the absolute bloody legends who make Pantry Fridays happen! ❤️

👑 Maggie - one of our hub queens! Back after being poorly and given the royal welcome 😂 Late 70s, sits on our Board, joins activities AND runs our legendary Signing-In Stations. Like a BOSS 🔥👑❤️

💛 Christiana - with us since we opened! Pantry volunteer, event helper, newly Level 2 Food Hygiene qualified AND regular digital learner. Always wiggling & giggling! 😂💻

🇸🇩 Elias - with KB 6+ years, since arriving from Sudan. Now a proud dad of two, safely housed, settled and volunteering at the Hub practically every day. Pantry, cleaning, Men’s Group… whatever needs doing, Elias is there. ❤️ 10/10 human.

🧡 Leane - running The Closet & Vinted while Zeys is on maternity leave AND jumping onto Pantry Fridays. Our young one with the big energy & old soul! 👏🏼👑

📋 Tracey - our Volunteer Office & Logistics Queen! Foodbank vouchers, CAB appointments, logistics… she knows where EVERYTHING is and ALWAYS time for residents. 🫶🏼👑

🍲 Sara H - a newer Pantry recruit, newly Level 2 Food Hygiene qualified, brilliant cook and bringing ALL the Auntie Energy every Friday! Maggie’s Deputy on Pantry Days 😂❤️

This week we’ve had SO many residents telling us how welcome they feel, how much they love the Hub and how quickly we’ve helped them. 🥹❤️

That’s the magic. ✨

But none of it happens without our Volunteer Shapers.

They give their time, their skills, their energy and their BIG hearts. ❤️

They ARE the beating heart of The CoHub. 🫶🏼

So THANK YOU, legends. 👑❤️

💔 A heartbreaking Safety Reminder for our community

We woke up to the incredibly sad news of the death of a 12-year-old boy after he entered the water at Hackney Marshes yesterday. 😢🕊️

Our deepest condolences are with his family, friends and everyone affected by this devastating loss. ❤️

🌊 Parents & carers - please talk to children about water safety.

Even on a hot day ☀️, open water can be incredibly dangerous because of:

⚠️ Cold water shock

⚠️ Hidden currents & obstacles

⚠️ Sudden changes in depth

⚠️ Difficulties getting back out

🚫 Please encourage children and young people to stay out of rivers, canals, lakes, ponds and other open water.

If someone gets into trouble, don’t enter the water yourself - call 999 and ask for Fire & Rescue. 🚒📞

Please share and help keep our young people safe. ❤️🙏

🌟📣 NEW LEAFLET RELEASE - MADE WITH FAMILIES, FOR FAMILIES! 📣🌟

We’re really proud to share our new leaflet, co-produced with & real-life residents who took part in our Children & Family Services (CFS) family sessions - with separate sessions for mums & dads. 👩🏽‍👧🏽👨🏽‍👧🏽💬❤️

And THIS is what co-production is all about! 🙌🏽🤝🏽

Rather than services deciding what people need from behind a desk… they worked with residents to shape information, support and services around what actually matters. 🗣️💡🛠️

💬 Where to go if you need help
🧭 How to navigate services and find the right support

Because residents bring something incredibly important to the table - lived experience. ❤️

🔥 HACKNEY HEATWAVE UPDATE 🔥☀️

Okay … heatwave number 5️⃣😭🥵 London really said summer isn’t over yet! 😂☀️

But this one comes with a bit of extra risk ⚠️🔥

The ground is VERY dry, wildfire risk is high 🌳🔥 and our resilience teams are already working at heightened levels.

So here’s a few extra things to keep in mind 👇🏽💗

💧 Check in, don’t just cool down - a quick call 📞 or knock on the door 🚪 can make a huge difference to someone who’s older, vulnerable or living alone. ❤️

🌳🔥 Think before you spark up a BBQ - dry grass + one tiny ember = potentially BIG trouble. 😭🔥

🚬 And please don’t flick your ciggies! 🙏🏽 Especially into dry grass, planters or rubbish. Use an ashtray or sand 🏖️ and make sure it’s properly extinguished. ✅

📱👀 Keep an eye on our local advice - conditions can change quickly.

🚴🏼‍♀️ LAST NIGHT’S VIBES 😂

Was absolutely BROKEN after flu & a carnage week but determined to get a ride in… so I tried a new route to Battersea and somehow ended up doing my LONGEST RIDE EVER! 😭

46.2KM 💥 - basically halfway to Brighton in one go! 😮🙌🏼

Honestly SO proud of myself. 🥹🩷 And I also didn’t die, which is obviously winning 😂

🤗 Plenty of smiles, chats and community spirit

We definitely missed Maggie & Fran though! ❤️

A huge shout out to our amazing Community Shapers, Sara H & Sheila, for cooking the most authentic delicious chicken curry! 🍛👏

Even better, they used some of the fresh vegetables harvested from our community garden yesterday, making it a true garden-to-table lunch. 🌱🥕🍅

Thanks to their hard work, we were able to feed all our volunteers and lots of residents too. The feedback was incredible - in fact, people enjoyed it so much they’re already asking if Friday lunches can become a regular thing! 😂❤️

It’s been another busy, sunny week full of connection, kindness and community. Wishing everyone a wonderful weekend-we’ll see you next week! ☀️🌻
