🍲 Volunteer Cooks Wanted! 🍰

Help Serve a Smile to Lochmaben’s Senior Citizens

Are you free one Thursday a month? Do you enjoy cooking or lending a hand in the kitchen? We’re looking for friendly, reliable volunteers to join our team preparing and serving lunch for the senior citizens of Lochmaben.

This is a wonderful way to give back to the community, meet new people, and bring a bit of joy (and a good meal!) to others. No professional experience needed—just a willingness to help and be part of a cheerful team.

🗓 When? One Thursday a month (plus occasional special events)
📍 Where? Lochmaben Community Centre
💬 Who? You—if you’ve got a kind heart and a couple of free hours!

Lunch Club resumed on Thursday 4th September and it was lovely to welcome back old and one new member. Everyone enjoyed a 'buffet" style lunch. We discussed our plans for the period up until Christmas, an outing to Moffat on 2nd October for a look round the shops or for those able a stroll along the river followed by lunch. A special lunch for Halloween and St. Andrews day. We intend to return to Houghton Garden Centre, Carlisle in December including Christmas Lunch. We are also looking at a Theatre visit or Annan Cinema. Joining fee for the year is £10 and Lunch £4.
Come along and join us on a Thursday at 12:15 til 2:15 in the Community Centre if the above is of interest to you.

At the end of June we had our annual outing, this year we travelled to Cockermouth via Silloth. It was wet when we set off but by the time we reached Silloth it was drizzling but a few members walked across the green to look across the Solway to the Nith Estuary. On reaching Cockermouth the sun was out and members enjoyed a pleasant afternoon looking at the shops and cafes. Several enjoyed a refreshment in one of the local hostelaries!!. As the sales.were on quite a few pairs of shoes were purchased!! Before returning home we all enjoyed a lovely meal at the Trout Hotel. Thanks to Mahri from McCall's Coaches for a safe journey. Lunch Club resumes on Thursday 4th September @ 12:15pm in the Community Centre. We look forward to welcoming members and hopefully some new members on Thursday.

Lochmaben Lunch Club resumes on Thursday 4th September 2025 in Community Centre, Stanedyke Crescent (down path at Surgery or drive round Annandale Crescent) 12:15 - 2:15. If anyone would like details of our programme/costs for 2025/2026 please do not hesitate to call me on 01387 810657.

Lunch Club will restart on Thursday 4th September in Community Centre (down footpath at Doctors Surgery and next to Primary School) 12:15pm til 2:15pm. Also can be accessed from Stanedyke Crescent. We look forward to welcoming old and new members. Watch out for further details.
