It’s so lovely to see this video shared by our friends, looking back at their visit to Lockerbie Old School a few weeks ago.

And believe it or not… even more has changed since this was filmed! 👀

After so much hard work behind the scenes, we’re incredibly excited to welcome everyone through the doors this Saturday 5th September for our Community Fun Day, 10am–2pm. 🎉

We’d love to welcome you to our upcoming Annual General Meeting and Open Doors Evening at Lockerbie Old School.

A huge thank you to everyone who came along to Lockerbie Old School on Friday!

It was lovely to welcome so many of you through the doors for our Volunteer Drop-In and Children & Families Space sessions.

We had some brilliant conversations, heard lots of fantastic ideas and met people who are just as excited as we are about what Lockerbie Old School can become. 🧡

A special thank you to everyone who shared their thoughts on our new Children & Families Space. Your feedback will play a really important part in helping us create a welcoming, inclusive space that works for local families.

And to those who came along to find out more about volunteering with us, thank you! We're so grateful for the support and enthusiasm already being shown for the hub.

It feels very special to finally be welcoming our community into the building, and this is only the beginning. 💙

If you are a carer of a person with a profound learning and multiple disability (PMLD) aged 14 or over and you are over 18 please consider taking part in this online survey that we are supporting alongside other carer-led organisations across the UK.

Many of you will remember the COVID-19 pandemic UK-wide survey about the impact of COVID on people with a learning disability and their families and the restrictions that were put in place. The findings from several phases of this research were and continue to be really useful.

The team are now building on this and are doing a survey specifically looking at the life and well-being of people with PMLD, and how we can best support them in the future. We are supporting this research because we believe it is an important way for carers to help shape research, policy and practice.

Help us shape our new Children & Families Space! 💛

A little reminder that this Friday afternoon, we’re opening the doors and inviting local parents, carers and families to come along and help us shape what our new family space could become.

We’ve already had some brilliant feedback from our community, and now we’d love to continue the conversation in person.

Come along, have a look around the space, meet the team and share your thoughts on what would make it genuinely useful and welcoming for local families, from baby and toddler sessions and sensory play to activities for older children, SEN-friendly sessions, parent meet-ups and more.

There are no right or wrong ideas, we want this space to be shaped by the families who will actually use it. 💙

We’re looking for friendly faces who would like to get involved with Lockerbie Old School as we get ready to open our doors to the community.

Whether you have a few hours to spare every now and again, would like to meet new people, learn something new, or simply want to find out a little more about what volunteering with us could look like, we’d love to see you.
