Be part of something local and meaningful
The Assynt Foundation is a community-owned charity dedicated to caring for the land, wildlife and people of
Assynt. We’re looking for a friendly, organised and proactive person to join our small team and help support the
work that keeps our community estate thriving. We are working with the Woodland Trust under a new
collaboration agreement so there will be opportunities to work and develop new ventures.
This is a varied role where no two weeks are the same. You’ll be helping behind the scenes to keep things
running smoothly, while also playing a part in how we connect with the wider community and our partners.
What you’ll be doing
Supporting day-to-day admin tasks that keep the organisation running
 Helping with basic bookkeeping and supporting our Treasurer
 Assisting with grant applications that fund vital local projects
 Taking minutes at Board meetings and helping keep everyone informed
 Linking with partner organisations (such as conservation and woodland groups)
 Supporting our communications, including social media and website updates
 Helping share the story of our work with the community and beyond
Who we’re looking for
We’re looking for someone who is:
 Organised, reliable and able to manage their own time
 Comfortable with admin tasks and basic financial processes
 A clear and friendly communicator
 Confident using computers, social media and websites
 Interested in community-led projects, nature, and rural life
You don’t need to meet every requirement perfectly — if you care about the work we do and are willing to
learn, we’d love to hear from you.
Why join us?
 Be part of a community-owned organisation making a real difference
 Flexible working to fit around your life
 A welcoming and supportive team
 The chance to contribute to the future of Assynt’s land and community

Look out for these on the burns or lochs around Suilven. Dippers can walk under water to get insects other birds can’t reach. Only found where the water is clear and unpolluted. Photo taken on Assynt Foundation land this week.

Rain today! So we're not on tenterhooks for wildfire for a while.

And our volunteers got their wildfire training done by Bright Sparks, courtesy of Woodland Trust and a grant from Restoring Rainforests Fund.

Please do your bit to avoid causing wildfire while you're visiting Assynt this weekend. The risk of wildfire is really high.

Don't light any campfires of bbqs, don't let off fireworks or discard fag ends and don't leave any litter, especially glass.

We've already had one wildfire here last weekend and we are desperate to avoid another.

Please do your bit to give nature a chance!

Extreme wildfire warning for the whole of Scotland 🔥

There is an extreme risk of wildfire across the whole of Scotland from today until Saturday, 2 May.

We know many people across Scotland will be wanting to enjoy the good weather across the bank holiday weekend. We ask that everyone does so responsibly.

Wildfires have the potential to destroy property, landscapes and wildlife. All it takes is one spark to spread, causing a large amount of damage.

Remember, there’s no such thing as a 'harmless' fire.

Share this wildfire warning to help spread the word.

I trekked into the fire site today. It is definitely out and the site is cold. The burn covered around 17 football pitches worth of ground at the north west end of Loch Fionn. But it seems to have just burned the surface vegetation and dead material, so the damage may be light.

We have been fortunate and again we thank our neighbouring keepers for their vital help in putting the fire out.
