Last month, our Rainforest Volunteer Development Co-ordinator Heather headed to Tayvallich with ten JPMorganChase volunteers from Glasgow for a fantastic day tackling Rhododendron ponticum on a boggy site 🌿

Five hours of brilliant work keeping this invasive species from spreading into the surrounding woodland, a huge thank you to every one of them, and to all the volunteers who give their time to help us care for Argyll's incredible landscapes πŸ’š

Over the past year, our Peatland ACTION Officers have been working with landowners and contractors across Islay and West Cowal to bring over 600ha of degraded peatland back onto the road to recovery.

To mark , we're sharing case studies from two of our recent projects, Coull Farm on Islay and Caladh in West Cowal, covering the site histories, techniques used, and lessons learned along the way.

West Cowal's rainforest made headlines around the world this week, and it all started with a damp Tuesday in Glenan Community Woodland and a team of very determined people (and a few midges).
Earlier this month, the BBC Scotland crew joined our Rainforest team in West Cowal to find out what two years of citizen science recording had uncovered. The answer? 1,109 species, including glow worms, slime moulds and globally rare lichens, in just one corner of Argyll's rainforest.
The story went everywhere. BBC Breakfast. BBC News at One. Reporting Scotland. The Times. Yahoo! News. And audiences across the globe.
We've written a behind-the-scenes blog about how it all happened πŸ‘‰ https://buff.ly/UdyZyjR
A huge thank you to our incredible volunteers, to Ian, Heather, Stuart, Lee, Calum, Ben Mitchell and Rhyddian at Friends of Glenan Wood for their part in making it happen. Thanks also to BBC Scotland News, and our Alliance for Scotlands Rainforest partners for helping us to share this story.

1,109 species found in West Cowal. 🌿 We're delighted to be featured by BBC Scotland News today, with the spotlight on our citizen science project, the first survey of the area in half a century.
A huge thank you to the BBC team for making the trip out to Glenan Wood, and to Ian, Heather, naturalist Ben Mitchell and our whole Rainforest Squad for sharing the story so brilliantly.
