Live the Dharma life;
in rural Scotland.

Live and work at Dhanakosa
Dhanakosa is an immersive practice context where community living, collective practice, right livelihood, ordination training, and spirit of generosity come together. Opportunities to live the Dharma life so fully are few and far between. Here, you can do so in the context of a successful retreat center project in rural Scotland.
We are looking for someone to live as part of the community and join the operations team, with the role focused on gardens and grounds, but also supporting general maintenance and the operations team with normal day to day tasks.

What sort of person are we looking for?
• Someone who has a clear commitment to deepening their going for refuge within the context of the Triratna Buddhist community, ideally at the level of training for ordination. Though we are also open to enquiries from Order Members and Mitras looking for opportunities to develop stronger experience of Triratna.
• Someone who is able to lead in the gardens and grounds area and who can offer support for general maintenance and the overall duties of the operations team and is physically fit, has some experience of gardens / practical work, and enjoys working as part of a team.

Open Call for Dhanakosa Retreat Centre Poetry Anthology
One meaning of Dhanakosa is ‘storehouse of treasure’ and it lives up to its name as a precious and significant place for all those who have stayed there on retreat, many of whom keep returning. Some people arrive with the specific intention to write poetry, others find themselves inspired and writing it anyway, even if they’ve never put pen to paper before.

As a result of a generous offering, a small but beautiful print anthology of poems will be published in early summer 2027 to coincide with Dhanakosa’s 35th anniversary – and you are warmly invited to submit your poems to be considered for inclusion. Proceeds from the sale of this book will be donated to the Dhanakosa charity. For details on how to submit see our website: https://www.dhanakosa.com/open-call-dhanakosa-poetry-anthology

Have you thought about coming on one of our nature awareness retreats and wondered what we do when it's raining?

We meditate outside, obviously!
It can really be a special, connecting experience to spend time outside in the elements, no matter what those are. Come join us and see for yourself. Just remember to bring your waterproofs.

Back in the summer, Darren led a ritual for the team where we visited different "pressure points" on the Dhanakosa grounds. One of the places we stopped was at the front gate by the new Dhanakosa sign. Here is Darren embellishing the verses from the puja with some bells.
